Description
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.
You will collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. At AWS you will experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.
Colo Physical Security Architects at AWS work with our Colocation Vendor partners to design safe, secure, resilient, cost-effective Data Center (DC) facilities. As a Colo Physical Security Architect, you will lead security designs for Colocation DCs throughout our Europe, Middle East and Africa Region and impact AWS global colo data center security standards. You will be part of a highly creative and efficient design team comprised of Architects, Engineers, and Designers tasked with solving problems and challenging the status quo. As a subject matter expert, you will provide technical guidance, have a direct impact on the design of Colo data center facilities, solve large-scale implementation issues, and be responsible for developing and communicating security design requirements to internal and external project partners.
As a Colo Physical Security Architect, you will work directly with other AWS Security Teams, AWS Management, and Colo Vendor partners to collaborate in the real-world application of Physical Security throughout AWS. You will review and be very knowledgeable of new technologies and security measures for possible application to the existing suite of security processes and standards to enhance the security posture across AWS. You should have a working knowledge of physical security principles and how that relates to practical application and real-world implementation of processes and measures, as well as working knowledge of Crime Prevention through Environmental Design (CPTED).
Key job responsibilities
- Lead designs (construction drawings and specifications) for physical security elements (cameras, access control, intrusion detection, fences, gates, etc.) for Colo DC projects.
- Collaborate with other security organizations within AWS to develop design standards, evaluate cost, risk and benefits of designs, and facilitate design discussions.
- Communicate conceptual designs to internal stakeholders and external stakeholders and consultants.
- Participate in the maintenance of basis of design (BOD) documents, prototype design, and template specifications for Colo physical security elements.
- Create security design scope of work for Colo DC project RFPs.
- Review and direct the work of Colo physical security engineering design consultants.
- Manage multiple fast-paced projects simultaneously.
- Travel for site assessments, internal design meetings, construction review, and interfacing with design consultants. Anticipated travel not to exceed 25%.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
