The role
As a Combat Systems Support Technician, you'll play a vital role in supporting Fleet Engineering teams responsible for maintaining and enhancing critical defence capabilities. Working within one of the UK's most important naval bases, you'll help ensure that submarines, surface vessels and key infrastructure remain safe, available and operational.
This is an exciting opportunity to build a rewarding career in defence engineering, working alongside highly skilled professionals in a dynamic environment where no two days are the same. Your contribution will directly support national security while giving you the chance to develop a broad range of technical, operational and maintenance skills.
Day-to-day, you’ll be required to:
- Supporting engineering teams to deliver planned preventative maintenance activities across fleet assets.
- Assisting with the identification and rectification of equipment defects, system issues and engineering alterations.
- Maintaining compliance with health, safety and environmental requirements, safe systems of work and control of work procedures.
- Managing the control, issue and return of work equipment required for engineering activities.
- Contributing ideas and improvements that help increase productivity, efficiency and operational performance.

This role is 36 hours per week, based on site at HMNB Clyde, working Monday to Thursday.
Essential experience of the Combat Systems Support Technician:
- Experience supporting engineering, maintenance or fleet operations environments.
- Experience using work equipment associated with engineering activities, such as scaffolding, lifting operations or materials handling equipment.
- Knowledge of manual handling procedures and safe working practices.
- Experience working with Risk Assessments, COSHH and Safe Systems of Work.
- Experience controlling, issuing and managing work equipment in a regulated environment.
Qualifications for the Combat Systems Support Technician:
- Confined Spaces for Competent Persons certification.
- Occasional Climber / Working at Height qualification.
- Full UK Driving Licence (Category B).
- RYA Level 2 Powerboat qualification.
- Slinging Signaller N402S qualification.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK National who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
