Commercial Account Executive

Commercial Account Executive - Howden Consumer & Local Commercial Team

Our Howden Consumer & Local Commercial team is expanding rapidly, growing to over 200 people across the UK. We take a no-limits approach to problem-solving, collaborating with clients to solve complex challenges through our collective power. We believe in reshaping the insurance narrative—helping individuals, businesses, and communities build resilience.

From pro bono initiatives to decarbonisation projects, we use our expertise to drive change—be it insuring vaccine development, supporting small businesses, or advancing sustainability efforts.

The Role

In this role, you’ll grow our team by building trusting, long-term relationships with clients ranging from sole traders to SMEs at every stage of growth. Reporting to a Branch Manager, you’ll:

  • Win new business by identifying and pursuing opportunities
  • Develop existing client accounts and expand their engagement with Howden
  • Represent Howden professionally, delivering expert advice on products and services
  • Collaborate with the team to deliver actionable solutions and drive policy growth

About You

We’re looking for a ** proactive, curious and consultative** professional who thrives in building lasting relationships and delivering results. Here’s what we need:

  • Proven experience in B2B client relationship management, including new business acquisition
  • A passion for commerce—marketing, pitches, community events, and preserving direct client contact
  • Drive to identify opportunities, validate them, and generate mentally qualified, qualified business
  • Strong interpersonal skills—you must be able to listen, ask insightful questions, and push towards solutions
  • A ‘path to yes’ mindset—always working towards positive outcomes rather than stumbling over red tape
  • A desire to ** Continuued growth**, including professional development and achieving associate/chartered qualifications
