The Opportunity
We are recruiting for a Commercial Account Executive to join our growing Consumer & Local Commercial team (now over 200 UK-based staff). In this role, you’ll build relationships with clients ranging from sole traders to large organisations—advising, developing solutions, and driving success with the Branch Manager.
About the Role
Key Responsibilities
You will:
- Win new business and cultivate long-term relationships with B2B clients.
- Proactively engage through marketing, community networks, and client meetings—strengthening Howden’s market presence.
- Be tenacious, curious, and adaptable, identifying opportunities to maximize client outcomes.
- Develop content knowledge, follow progress, and seek "path to yes" solutions.
- Deliver consultative advice, understanding client needs before proposing tailored products/service solutions.

Ideal Candidate
- Prior experience winning new business in B2B or commercial insurance.
- Passion for growth, excelling at:
- Marketing that delivers business outcomes
- Community engagement and networking
- Personal consultative sales
- Curiosity-driven, with an ability to ask probing questions and diagnose complex client needs.
- Professional attainment (or willingness to pursue) industry qualifications.
- Commitment to learning; processes will evolve daily, but your agility and responsiveness are key.
