Job Description: Commercial Manager, Strategic Accounts - London
About the Role
Dow Jones Energy is hiring a senior commercial leader to drive net-new enterprise revenue and expand strategic, enterprise-wide contracts with global integrated oil companies, major refiners/marketers, and large midstream operators.
This role will focus on closing new enterprise licenses, embedding Dow Jones data and analytics into trading and supply-chain workflows, and converting product capabilities into long-term strategic partnerships.
Reporting Line: Reports to the VP, Global Strategic Sales
About the Team
Our division delivers trusted price transparency, benchmarks, analytics, news, and insights across the global energy, chemicals, metals, and fuel supply value chains. Our offerings support commercial trading desks, optimization analysts, and supply chain executives navigating spot, wholesale, and retail markets, as well as emerging segments tied to the global energy transition.
Through authoritative data, real-time intelligence, and deep market expertise, we enable energy professionals to mitigate risk and make high-stakes commercial decisions in volatile, fast-evolving global markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Close New Enterprise Revenue: Own and exceed a defined net-new revenue target for assigned Supermajor and midstream accounts
- Targeted Account Expansion: Map and penetrate whitespace across trading desks, optimization teams, risk groups, and procurement to create cross-sell and upsell motion.
- Lead Complex Sales Cycles: Manage the full sales lifecycle from prospecting and C-suite engagement through commercial negotiation, MSA/legal review, and contract execution.
- Embed in Client Workflows: Build and monetize relationships with Head Traders, Optimization Managers, Risk Directors, Procurement leads, and Chief Economists to secure adoption across business units.
- Market Feedback and Product Influence: Capture actionable customer insights and translate them into prioritized product and editorial requests to strengthen our competitive position.
- Forecasting and Pipeline Discipline: Maintain accurate CRM records and deliver reliable, data-driven forecasts and pipeline metrics to senior leadership.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
