About the Role
As a Commercial Advisor, you will lead projects, manage client relationships, and drive supplementary tasks in the Renewables sector while growing AAL’s Commercial Advisory practice (expanding upon our leadership in decentralised/district energy). You will collaborate with directors, specialise in industry knowledge, and ensure client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Core Accountabilities
- Manage multiple complex client engagements (projects & proposals) independently, consulting peers as needed
- Build and maintain client relationships, understanding project needs to develop tailored, attractive proposals
- Deliver high-quality, profitable engagements while ensuring adherence to project scope and deadlines
Technical & Strategic Deliverables
- Provide commercial, technical, and policy expertise (e.g., decarbonisation, energy infrastructure) to support engagements
- MENTOR junior staff on project specifics and highlight gaps for senior direction
- Lead lessons-learned reviews post-project to enhance future work

Business Development & Knowledge Expansion
- Develop repeatable solutions to strengthen client reputation and engagement
- Advanced understanding of financial drivers, economic market trends, and industry challenges
- Support business strategy adaptation in response to client trends/external shifts
Performance & CPD Commitments
- Maintain compliance with professional accreditations (if applicable)
- Submit feedback & performance updates in line with AAL’s Performance Development Cycle
Ideal Candidate Requirements
Professional Experience
- Experience in commercial consulting, corporate development, or investment (preferably within energy/infrastructure sectors)
- Hands-on experience with:
- Due diligence, risk analysis, financial modelling
- Business case development & stakeholder consultation
- Working with investors, corporates, and public sector clients
Qualifications (Preferred & Recommended)
- Bachelor’s degree (BSc/BA) in economics, finance, law, engineering, or business administration
- MBA, MSc, or MA (desirable but not mandatory)
- Professional accreditations (optional: ACA, CIMA, CFA, IACCM, CMI, MEI)

- Self-motivated, adaptable team player with passion for decarbonisation and infrastructure investment
- Strong translational financial & technical communication skills (titling complex insights simply)
- Proactive self-starter with capability to decision-making at pace
- Exceptional attention to detail, particularly in financial modelling and report writing
- Teamwork-oriented but comfortable working under pressure, managing competing priorities
- Look for opportunities to contribute to sharable solutions
