National Grid: Commercial Analyst Role
As a Commercial Strategy Analyst within the Commercial Excellence function, this new and exciting role supports the development and delivery of frameworks, tools, and insights to optimise commercial capability and enable Net Zero outcomes across Strategic Infrastructure. Based in our Warwick office, you’ll work across onshore and offshore projects, collaborating with commercial teams to produce data-driven insights, delivery materials, and business cases, while ensuring alignment and consistency across National Grid.
The role contributes to new initiatives and ongoing projects, helping embed Commercial Excellence and improve infrastructure delivery, with the flexibility of working hybrid, including at least 2 days in the office, and additional flexibility discussed.
What You’ll Do
Core Responsibilities
- Create and maintain business reports and dashboards to provide cross-portfolio insights.
- Monitor key performance metrics against targets to support better commercial outcomes.
- Develop business cases and strategic initiatives, driving operational efficiency.
- Support Commercial Excellence priorities by designing and implementing frameworks, tools, and standards to ensure consistency across Strategic Infrastructure.
- Apply structured analysis and problem-solving to develop data-led insights, including:
- Performance tracking
- Benchmarking
- Risk and opportunity identification
- Contribute to commercial strategies and business cases, aligning cross-functional inputs with governance and Commercial Excellence principles.
- Work in a matrix organisation, engaging stakeholders to support cross-portfolio initiatives.
- Clearly communicate insights and recommendations through high-quality outputs.
- Foster continuous improvement by capturing lessons learned and promoting best practices.

What You’ll Have
Essential Qualifications & Skills
- Degree-level education (or equivalent).
- Full driving licence (travel may be required).
- Proactive, capable, respectful, and flexible—with strong engagement and collaboration skills across diverse teams.
- Stakeholder management experience (essential); project management experience (desirable).
- Aware of regulated environments, capital delivery, and construction.
- Comfortable working in a hybrid and agile environment.
- Analytical mindset and passion for process improvement.
- Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills.
- Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to multi-task, prioritise, and manage time effectively.
- Commercially minded.
Experience Considerations

- Experience in strategy or commercial management (advantageous but not compulsory).

- Salary: £48,000 – £53,000 (dependent on experience).
