Climate17 is supporting a specialist energy market analytics and advisory business as they continue to expand their commercial and analytical capability across European power and gas markets.
This organisation advises utilities, infrastructure investors, traders, and energy market participants on some of the most important themes shaping the global energy transition, including gas, LNG, flexibility, storage, trading dynamics, and power market evolution.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded analyst with strong technical capability and a genuine passion for energy markets to join a highly respected and intellectually driven team.
The Opportunity
As a Commercial Analyst, you will support the delivery of client projects across European power, gas, and flexibility markets, taking ownership of analytical workstreams and contributing to strategic commercial insight.
The role offers exposure to:
European gas & LNG markets Power market fundamentals Energy storage & flexibility Commercial strategy and market analytics Energy transition economics Infrastructure and commodity market dynamics
You will work closely with experienced consultants and senior market specialists, gaining significant exposure to commercial decision-making and client-facing advisory work.

Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery & Analysis Support delivery of client projects across European energy markets Own quantitative and qualitative analytical workstreams with appropriate quality control Prepare reports, presentations, and client deliverables Participate in client meetings and project discussions Support project coordination and delivery processes Commercial & Business Support Assist with preparation of proposals and sales support materials Support CRM and broader business development activity Build confidence in discussing market trends, commercial dynamics, and advisory services Contribute to internal commercial research and market insight generation Market Knowledge & Innovation Support development and enhancement of analytical tools and datasets Contribute to internal market research, scenarios, and thought leadership Assist with energy market modelling and commercial analytics Develop understanding of risk, uncertainty, and market fundamentals across energy systems Team & Internal Contribution Support internal initiatives, knowledge sharing, and process improvements Contribute positively to team culture and collaboration Take ownership of personal development and continuous learning
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate is likely to combine strong analytical capability with excellent communication skills and a clear passion for global energy markets.

Self-driven, with examples of proactively driving workstreams or projects forward Strong presentation and communication skills with a natural conversational style Excellent analytical capability and strong Excel skills Experience using Python and confidence working with data and modelling tools A genuine interest in energy markets, energy security, commodity dynamics, and the energy transition Strong awareness of current global energy market trends, policies, and market developments
Experience & Background
Candidates will likely have circa 1 year of industry experience, or be a high-performing graduate with a highly relevant academic background, dissertation, or thesis focused on energy markets, commodities, economics, or related sectors.
They will have experience across some of these areas:
Energy market analytics Power & gas trading analysis Energy consultancy Economics or quantitative analysis Infrastructure or commodity market research Utilities or commercial energy functions
