Commercial and Finance Director | Elderly Care

Location: North East (commutable from Newcastle, Gateshead, South Shields, Sunderland, etc.)

Salary: £80,000 per annum + performance bonus


About the Role

Compass Associates is partnering with an established and growing elderly care provider to recruit an experienced Commercial & Finance Director for a newly created executive position.

This role offers the opportunity to lead the next phase of the organisation’s growth, working closely with the Board and senior leadership team. As Commercial & Finance Director, you will provide:

  • Strategic commercial and financial leadership
  • Operational performance oversight across a portfolio of care homes
  • Direction for future expansion via acquisitions and organic growth

Ideal for an ambitious executive seeking high impact in a fast-growing organisation with strong leadership experience.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the finance function, ensuring robust financial management
  • Oversee commercial performance and drive operational efficiency
  • Support portfolio growth through acquisitions and strategic initiatives
  • Implement forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow management
  • Develop and maintain robust reporting frameworks
  • Shape long-term commercial strategy in alignment with the Board and senior team

Requirements & Experience

We seek an experienced commercial leader with:

✔ Senior leadership experience in the Social Care sector ✔ Track record of improving financial performance and increasing occupancy ✔ Demonstrated success in acquisitions, business expansion, or operational improvements ✔ Strong expertise in finance, forecasting, cash flow, and commercial strategy ✔ Experience operating at Executive or Board level, influencing strategic decisions ✔ Proven impact on EBITDA growth and financial reporting frameworks ✔ Comfortable managing Board-level stakeholders while maintaining operational oversight

Desirable:

  • Experience in elders care sector-specific challenges
  • Ability to lead operational teams from a hands-on yet strategic perspective -wright or commercial transformation projects

Candidate Profile Summary

  • Strategic decision-maker with a financial and commercial mindset
  • Leadership and stakeholder management at executive level
  • Strong acquisitions/mergers experience preferred
  • Works within multi-site care provider framework
  • Obsessed with sustainable growth, efficiency, and performance

Interview Process

  • 2-stage selection process

Location Commutability

The role is within commute of: Newcastle, Gateshead, Sunderland, Durham, Middlesbrough, and other north-eastern locations.
