Commercial Assistant

Central Cornwall | Permanent | Full-Time

£30,000 - £35,000 + Career Progression

Are you looking to build a long-term career within the commercial side of construction?

We're working with a well-established, family-run housebuilder to recruit a Commercial Assistant to join their friendly and supportive team based in Central Cornwall.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to gain exposure across the full commercial function. Working closely with the Commercial Manager, Quantity Surveyors, Estimators and Buyers, you'll be involved in procurement, estimating and quantity surveying, making this an ideal role for someone who wants to develop into a Quantity Surveyor in the future.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the commercial team with the delivery of multiple new build housing developments
  • Support procurement activities, obtaining quotations and placing purchase orders
  • Assist with material scheduling and supplier liaison
  • Provide support to the Quantity Surveyors with valuations, variations and cost reporting
  • Assist the Estimating team with tender enquiries, take-offs and pricing exercises
  • Raise purchase orders and maintain accurate commercial records using COINS (preferred)
  • Prepare and maintain project documentation, spreadsheets and reports
  • Liaise with site teams, suppliers and subcontractors to ensure projects remain on programme
  • Support cost tracking and commercial reporting
  • Provide general administrative support across the commercial department

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
