Commercial Assistant
Central Cornwall | Permanent | Full-Time
£30,000 - £35,000 + Career Progression
Are you looking to build a long-term career within the commercial side of construction?
We're working with a well-established, family-run housebuilder to recruit a Commercial Assistant to join their friendly and supportive team based in Central Cornwall.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to gain exposure across the full commercial function. Working closely with the Commercial Manager, Quantity Surveyors, Estimators and Buyers, you'll be involved in procurement, estimating and quantity surveying, making this an ideal role for someone who wants to develop into a Quantity Surveyor in the future.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the commercial team with the delivery of multiple new build housing developments
- Support procurement activities, obtaining quotations and placing purchase orders
- Assist with material scheduling and supplier liaison
- Provide support to the Quantity Surveyors with valuations, variations and cost reporting
- Assist the Estimating team with tender enquiries, take-offs and pricing exercises
- Raise purchase orders and maintain accurate commercial records using COINS (preferred)
- Prepare and maintain project documentation, spreadsheets and reports
- Liaise with site teams, suppliers and subcontractors to ensure projects remain on programme
- Support cost tracking and commercial reporting
- Provide general administrative support across the commercial department

Essential Requirements
- Previous experience within a Commercial Assistant, Commercial Administrator, Buying, Estimating or Quantity Surveying support role
- Experience within the construction or housebuilding industry
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Good numerical ability and attention to detail
- Ability to prioritise workload and work as part of a team
- Full UK Driving Licence
- COINS experience is desirable
