Commercial Assistant – Vets 1 Group

Full-time | Crimplesham and King’s Lynn | Monday to Friday, plus one Saturday morning in four

The Vets 1 Group is an independent, family-owned veterinary business. Our main hospital is located just outside Downham Market, with a further practice based on the Hardwick in King’s Lynn.

For more than 13 years, our award-winning Commercial team has played a pivotal role in our success. They are the first voice our clients hear, the first people they meet and, very often, the people who quietly make sure everything continues to run as it should.

This is not simply a reception job.

At any point in the day, you might be:

  • Welcoming an excited new puppy
  • Reassuring a worried owner
  • Answering an urgent telephone call
  • Finding space within an exceptionally busy diary
  • Processing a prescription
  • Writing an email that needs to be both clear and carefully judged.

The animals are, of course, enormously important. Genuinely liking people is essential too. The animals, after all, rarely telephone to make their own appointments.

We are seeking to appoint a Commercial Assistant who will work across both of our locations, providing a front-of-house service centred upon truly exemplary customer care.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for someone warm, articulate and genuinely thoughtful.

You will:

  • Speak confidently and naturally, both face to face and over the telephone.
  • Be able to write a polished, accurate email, listen properly, absorb information quickly and explain things clearly.
  • Notice the details other people miss.
  • Be organised, dependable and able to remain composed when the pace increases.
  • Possess the judgement to recognise when you can resolve something yourself and when you need to ask for help.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

We can teach you our systems and processes. Warmth, curiosity, sound judgement and a genuine care for the way you communicate are rather harder to teach.

Previous veterinary experience would be useful, but it is not essential. We are far more interested in finding someone with the right qualities and the ability to learn.

The role will include:

  • Welcoming clients and their pets
  • Managing telephone and email enquiries
  • Booking appointments and managing clinical diaries
  • Processing payments
  • Processing prescription requests and dispensing medication
  • Assisting with insurance enquiries
  • Maintaining accurate client and patient records
  • Producing clear and professional written correspondence
  • Completing general administrative duties
  • Liaising closely with our clinical and commercial teams
  • Helping to maintain a clean, calm and well-organised front-of-house environment

You will need at least one year of recent experience within a customer service role, confident written and verbal communication skills, and a working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
