What’s The Opportunity
We are expanding our Expert Witness team and recruiting an experienced Commercial Building Surveyor expert witness, with a proven track record of practical experience in construction, contract matters and in particular defects analysis. This role can be based in any of our offices. Due to the nature of this role, you will be required to travel nationally to clients’ sites.
This is an opportunity for someone wishing to work as part of a specialist team on a range of highly technical matters and develop their career into Expert Witness work. Training in undertaking Expert Witness work will be given to the right candidate.
Please note, that due to the nature of this role, the prerequisite for applying for this opportunity is that you have achieved a minimum of 15 years’ professional experience working in defects analysis and rectification. Whilst experience of housing disrepair claims will assist, the role centres on commercial property. As part of the recruitment process, the relevant experience you have gained will be covered during your interview discussions.

- Undertake detailed site investigations
- Work as part of a wider team under the direction of an experienced expert

- Meet clients at site to discuss technical findings
The skills and experience you need to have for this role
To be considered for this role you will have gave gained extensive experience in your career of working in a related role which will be discussed / evidenced during the interview process.
- Evidence of a minimum of 15 years in a relevant / related commercial role
- Chartered Building Surveyor or Builder, with a strong technical background in the practical aspects of construction
- Focused, confident, decision maker, but one who quickly recognises when they have insufficient information to reach a conclusion
- Have a sound knowledge of past/current industry standards, regulations, and guidance and who recognises the limit of their knowledge
- Experience in JCT and NEC forms of contract
- A problem solver able to assimilate large amounts of technical information and identify its relevance and deficiencies
- Ability to communicate complex technical matters to the non-technical in both written and oral forms
- Strong interpersonal skills and willing to take instruction and training from the established team.
- Flexible working attitude with the ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines
- Flexible to travel nationally for site visits, etc
