Commercial Catering/Refrigeration Engineer – Permanent, Full-time
Position Summary
As a Commercial Catering/Refrigeration Engineer, you will be responsible for the service, maintenance, and occasional installation of industrial and commercial catering/refrigeration equipment. You will report directly to the General Service Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain, repair, install, and commission commercial catering/refrigeration equipment, including:
- Combination ovens, fryers, grills, griddles
- Cooking ranges & dishwashers
- Walk-ins, display chillers, and bottle fridges
- Conduct testing and quality assurance checks to ensure equipment operates in accordance with design specifications and current regulations, including air quality tests
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve faults, coordinating repairs as needed
- Ensure correct part numbers are used for all jobs
- Perform periodic gas and electricity safety checks (training provided if required)
- Complete manual and electronic job sheets following site visits
- Maintain regular communication with service coordinators
- Manage and monitor van stock levels

Required Experience
- 2-5 years’ experience in commercial catering/refrigeration engineering, industrial catering/refrigeration, or a related field (desirable)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to fault-find and resolve complex technical issues
- Strong organisation skills, with the ability to prioritise and multi-task

Essential Qualifications, Licences & Requirements
- Full UK driving licence
- CRB/DDC clearance (or ability to obtain)
- COMCAT Commercial Catering Appliance qualifications (COMCAT 1, 2, 3 & 5 – CCCN1) and F-Gas qualification for refrigeration
- Gas Safe/Refcom registered and qualified
- Capacity to work flexible and unsociable hours occasionally
