The Role: Commercial Contracts Manager

The Commercial Contracts Manager will spearhead the contract function within the ONNEC Group, ensuring rigorous oversight and strategic advisory capabilities. This critical role involves reviewing contracts pre-signature, offering delay and prolongation advice, and supporting project teams when disputes arise.

Key Responsibilities

Contract Management

  • Review and manage all contracts entering and exiting the business
  • Assess and challenge onerous contractual conditions
  • Oversee contract disputes with project teams

Delay & Disruption Mitigation

  • Proactively support teams in preventing and resolving delays/disruptions
  • Educate teams on strategies to overcome disruption issues
  • Advise on delay and disruption claims as they emerge

Legal & Negotiation Support

  • Resolve disputes as directed, including navigating complex conflicts
  • Guide the delivery team through final account negotiations (commercial projects)
  • Ensure quantity surveying standards are upheld across projects

Standardisation & Training

  • Assist in developing standard contract templates to mitigate risk
  • Train internal teams on contract compliance and strategic execution

Essential Requirements

  • Extensive experience in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Contract Management
  • In-depth knowledge of construction contracts, environmental laws, and commercial regulations
  • Proven track record in engaging with:
    • Direct Clients (managing relationships and expectations)
    • External Consultants (negotiating terms effectively)
    • Main Contractors & Sub-Contractors (mitigating risks)
  • Strong understanding of Extension of Time Claims and박 project-completion appeals
  • Hands-on expertise in tendering processes, variation costing, and priced-supplier reconciliations
  • Familiarity with Prime Cost Valuation & Reconciliations
  • Excellent grasp of construction materials and methods
