Commercial Counsel (3-7 years PQE) – London An exciting opportunity has come up for a mid-level, commercial lawyer looking to develop their career within a leading professional services firm. You would work closely with the business and Marsh Legal team on day-to-day contractual and strategic commercial matters. You would be responsible for managing day-to-day contractual queries. The position would likely be suitable for a candidate with previous experience in commercial/contract work. You would need to be a self-starter with the ability to quickly grasp the risks, issues and opportunities faced by the organisation. Particular interest in financial services, insurance or digital solutions would be a positive but equally happy to work outside traditional area of expertise. We will count on you to: Have strong commercial acumen with an ability to deliver clear and pragmatic solutions to both internal and external clients and achieve an appropriate balance between Marsh McLennan’s commercial objectives and risk appetite Advise on legal issues as appropriate Effectively identify risk issues and escalate upwards, as appropriate Maintain up-to-date legal knowledge to ensure compliance with relevant policies and legislation Support the business’ innovation and manage risks of new products and services by escalating to senior team members as required Report promptly and accurately on specific cases and trends according to the Department’s reporting processes Take the initiative; identify issues that go beyond the specific project requested by the internal client Take on projects important to the department or the internal client and manage these effectively and to completion Be enthusiastic and keen to develop a long-term career in-house What you need to have: LLB or equivalent legal qualification Mid-level lawyer (3-7 years PQE). Excellent document drafting and negotiation skills Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail Previous experience working in a fast-paced environment, manging multiple deadlines and tasks Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage expectations well What makes you stand out?
