Commercial Data Analyst (Lending) | London

About Elect Capital

Elect Capital is an SME lender providing working capital loans, business loans, and merchant cash advances to UK small and medium-sized businesses. We exist to give UK SMEs fast, flexible access to the funding they need to grow, without the friction of traditional lending.

Our Mission

To become the go-to funding partner for UK SMEs, combining smart use of data with a genuinely commercial, human approach to lending.

Our Values: C.O.R.E

  • Challenge – We question the status quo and push ourselves to do better.
  • Opportunity – We see possibility where others see obstacles.
  • Resilience – We adapt, learn, and keep moving forward.
  • Edge – We bring sharp thinking and a competitive instinct to everything we do.

The Role

We're looking for a highly driven Commercial Data Analyst to join our Credit Risk and Analytics (CRA) team. This isn't a traditional behind-the-scenes data role — we need someone with the technical rigor to dive deep into credit and lending data, and the commercial instinct to turn those insights into real business action. You'll be the bridge between data and operations, owning outcomes rather than just building dashboards.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze credit risk, lending trends, and broker performance data to identify opportunities for growth, risk mitigation, and operational efficiency.
  • Go beyond dashboards — take ownership of insights by developing and executing action plans with the Partnerships and Operations teams.
  • Act as the analytical face of the CRA team, clearly and persuasively communicating data-backed lending strategies, performance metrics, and policy changes to internal sales and partnerships teams.
  • Partner closely with Lending Operations to embed data insights into daily workflows and lending decisions.
  • Use your understanding of sales dynamics to optimize our broker networks and improve overall lending portfolio profitability.
  • Build, maintain, and present clear, automated reports and visualizations tracking the success of implemented actions.

  • 3–4 years of professional experience, ideally blending data analytics with sales, commercial, or partnership management.
  • Strong proficiency in data manipulation and analysis tools (SQL, Excel, and BI tools like Data Studio/Looker, Grafana).
  • A proven track record in a sales or commercial environment — you understand how brokers operate, how sales targets work, and how to "sell" an idea using data.
  • Exceptional communication skills — equally comfortable discussing database architecture with engineers as negotiating lending terms with partners.
  • A proactive, action-oriented mindset — you naturally turn a spreadsheet of numbers into a concrete business action.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally within the UK to meet regional teams.
  • Bonus: experience with Python or R.
