I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

About you

You'll bring significant senior commercial leadership experience gained within the logistics, transport, or supply chain sector, with a proven track record of delivering business growth and leading successful sales organisations. You will have extensive experience managing strategic customer portfolios and securing multi-million-pound contracts while maintaining strong commercial discipline.

A strong understanding of European road freight, trailer operations, and multimodal logistics is essential, alongside excellent financial and commercial acumen. You'll be confident influencing senior stakeholders and executive leadership teams, combining strategic vision with a hands-on approach to customer engagement and business development.

You'll thrive in this role if you're a commercially driven leader who can inspire teams, build trusted customer relationships, and identify opportunities for growth in competitive markets. Strong communication skills, resilience, and the ability to collaborate across multiple functions will be key to your success.

Experience selling trailer and logistics solutions into Nordic markets would be advantageous. An understanding of customs and export processes in a post-Brexit environment would also be beneficial, along with familiarity with specialist cargo logistics and complex transport solutions. While these are not essential requirements, they would support your ability to identify opportunities and drive commercial growth across the DFDS network.

We think the strongest teams are built on diversity and inclusivity. Contrasting opinions, varied skills, and strong characters bring out the best in us all. And we cannot wait for you to join.
