Commercial Director Level - Pre-signature deals role
Hybrid working across the south of England

A leading technology and engineering organisation is seeking a highly skilled commercially minded capture Lead to play a pivotal role in shaping, structuring and closing major commercial deals across high-value, strategically important programmes alongside developing go to market strategies and hunting and winning competitive bids.
This is a senior commercial leadership position operating at the forefront of complex customer engagements in the tech and defence sectors.
As the Commercial Lead, you will operate at senior and executive levels, leading commercial strategy, major negotiation activity and the overall commercial framework for large, business-critical campaigns. You will work closely with multi-discipline capture teams, influence internal and external stakeholders, and drive commercially robust, innovative deal structures that unlock long-term growth.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the commercial strategy and deals for major campaigns and high-value opportunities.
- Develop go to market strategies & hunt competitive bids.
- Shape, structure and negotiate complex agreements, including customer contracts, teaming agreements, MoUs and collaboration arrangements.
- Develop pricing strategies, risk/reward models and commercial governance frameworks.
- Act as the senior commercial voice within global capture teams, advising executives and influencing decision-making.
- Build and maintain senior-level customer relationships, ensuring strong long-term commercial outcomes.
- Provide leadership, guidance and coaching to commercial and supply chain professionals embedded within campaigns.
- Drive identification and mitigation of key commercial risks throughout the bid lifecycle.
- Support long-term business growth by ensuring the right commercial capabilities and approaches are deployed across major opportunities.

What We’re Looking For
- A proven, demonstrable track record of modelling commercial campaigns & closing large-scale deals in the technology or defence sector — essential.
- Experience leading large deals from early campaign stages.
- Strong experience leading complex negotiations with senior stakeholders.
- Deep understanding of commercial strategy, pricing, risk management.
- Ability to operate at pace in a fast-moving environment, influencing executives and shaping high-value commercial outcomes.
- Experience managing or mentoring commercial teams in matrix environments.
- Prior experience in a customer facing deals, campaign, capture or commercial role.
- A commercially astute, highly accountable self-starter who can work autonomously at a senior level.
