Overview of the role
IFX Payments is seeking an ambitious and commercially driven Commercial Director to lead and scale our fintech growth strategy across the UK market. This role is responsible for driving revenue growth, designing high-performing commercial frameworks, and building scalable go-to-market strategies across FX, international payments, PSP and MSB partnerships, and embedded fintech solutions.
The successful candidate will bring a strong track record within regulated financial services, with expertise spanning sales leadership, commercial structuring, onboarding optimisation, and cross-functional collaboration. Working closely with Finance, Product, Compliance, Risk, and Operations, the Commercial Director will play a critical role in delivering sustainable, compliant growth while enhancing the customer journey and strengthening IFX Payments’ position within the fintech ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Strategy & Go-to-Market Execution
- Develop and execute the commercial and go-to-market strategy for fintech, PSP, and MSB solutions across FI, NBFI, payment provider segments.
- Identify market opportunities, customer trends, and competitive positioning to drive revenue growth and market expansion.
- Design scalable sales and distribution strategies aligned with company objectives and regulated market requirements.
- Lead commercial planning, forecasting, pipeline management, and KPI reporting to ensure consistent target achievement.
- Drive strategic growth initiatives within FX, international payments, embedded finance, PSP, and MSB channels.
Sales Leadership & Organisation Design
- Build, lead, and develop high-performing commercial teams across business development, sales, partnerships, and fintech channels.
- Provide leadership across commercial functions, ensuring strong market positioning, strategic growth, and operational alignment.
- Create effective sales structures, onboarding frameworks, and measurable KPI environments to maximise performance and accountability.
- Establish clear commercial processes, sales governance, and enablement tools to support scalable growth.
- Lead and develop a high-performing relationship management function, ensuring strong client engagement, strategic partnership growth, and exceptional stakeholder management across fintech, PSP, MSB, and financial institution relationships.
- Foster a high-performance culture through coaching, performance management, regular reviews, and career development initiatives.
- Drive energy, engagement, and accountability while promoting a collaborative and commercially focused environment.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Proven leadership experience within fintech, FX, payments, PSP, or MSB environments.
- Strong background in go-to-market strategy, sales-organisation design, and commercial leadership.
- Demonstrated success building and scaling high-performing commercial teams.
- Deep understanding of FX markets, international payments, PSP operations, MSB models, treasury solutions, and fintech ecosystems.
- Experience working with regulated financial institutions, NBFIs, PSPs, MSBs, and corporate clients.
- Strong commercial acumen with experience in pricing, commercial structuring, and revenue optimisation.
- Ability to operate effectively within regulated environments, balancing growth with governance and compliance requirements.
- Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and stakeholder management capabilities.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and negotiation skills.
- Experience using CRM platforms, sales enablement tools, and KPI reporting frameworks.
- Adaptable, entrepreneurial, and highly motivated with a strong work ethic and growth mindset.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
