The Opportunity
The Commercial Director – UK will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering Glanbia Performance Nutrition UK’s commercial success and long-term growth ambition. This role has full P&L ownership (~£90m NSV) and leads the end-to-end Commercial and Customer Strategy agenda, including Sales, Trade Strategy, Category and Shopper Marketing. There is an additional close working relationship with the RGM team, and experience in this field is highly valuable. The business has grown at a rate of 20% since 2022, and has a CAGR outlook of +10% through to 2030.
As a key member of the UK Leadership Team, this position is responsible for defining and executing a joined-up commercial and trade strategy across all channels — Grocery, Convenience, E-Commerce, Specialty and High Street — ensuring delivery of profitable, sustainable growth. The role combines strategic leadership and hands-on execution, with accountability for building best-in-class commercial capability, embedding data-led decision-making, and delivering excellence in customer, trade and shopper execution.
Primary responsibilities for this role will include:
Strategic & Commercial Leadership
- Lead the development and execution of the UK Commercial, Trade and Customer Strategy, aligned to overall business objectives.
- Own and deliver the annual and long-term commercial plan, integrating Sales, Trade Strategy, Category and RGM.
- Act as the senior leader for trade strategy within the UK, ensuring clear prioritisation of channels, customers, and investment.
- Shape and embed a shopper- and data-led approach to commercial decision-making across the organisation.
- Play a central role on the UK Leadership Team, influencing the broader business strategy and growth agenda.
Trade Strategy, Category & RGM Leadership
- Provide end-to-end leadership of the Customer Strategy function (Category, Trade Marketing, Shopper Marketing and RGM).
- Define and deliver a best-in-class Trade Strategy and RGM framework, optimising:
- Build and strengthen category partnerships with key customers, driving joint growth and category leadership.
- Ensure the organisation consistently represents the voice of the shopper and category, both internally and externally.
- Oversee delivery of a fully integrated annual trade calendar, aligned to brand priorities and customer activation cycles.

Customer & Channel Leadership
- Lead the UK customer agenda across all channels, delivering channel-specific growth strategies.
- Build strong, strategic relationships with key retail partners, focused on mutual growth and long-term value creation.
- Drive customer-centric and shopper-led solutions that enhance engagement, distribution and conversion.
- Ensure excellence in in-market execution, including visibility, activation and point-of-purchase impact.
P&L Ownership & Performance Delivery
- Own and manage the UK Commercial P&L, delivering revenue, margin and market share growth.
- Drive rigorous commercial discipline, ensuring effective cost management and clear ROI on trade investment.
- Partner closely with Finance to embed performance tracking, forecasting and investment optimisation.
- Translate strategy into clear targets, KPIs and execution plans across all channels.
Team Leadership & Capability Building
- Lead and develop a high-performing commercial organisation (Sales + Customer Strategy teams).
- Build best-in-class capability across Trade Strategy, Category, RGM and Sales.
- Create a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Develop a strong talent pipeline and succession plan across the commercial function.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Partner closely with Marketing, Innovation, Supply Chain and Finance to ensure aligned, integrated business plans.
- Ensure shopper, customer and trade insights are embedded into brand and innovation strategies.
- Act as a key connector across UK and global teams to drive alignment and best practice sharing.
The skills and experience you will bring to the team
- Proven Commercial Leadership experience within FMCG / Consumer Goods, with significant P&L ownership.
- Strong track record in Trade Strategy, Category Management, Trade Marketing and/or RGM.
- Demonstrated success in delivering profitable growth through customer and trade strategies.
- Deep understanding of the UK retail and channel landscape.
- Experience in trade investment optimisation, pricing and promotional strategy.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance strategic thinking and execution.
- Proven ability to lead, inspire and develop high-performing teams at scale.

- Experience within Sports Nutrition, Health or Wellness categories.
