Job Description
DePuy Synthes is recruiting for a [Commercial Education Manager – Knee & VELYS] located in Leeds, West Yorkshire, United Kingdom.
The Commercial Education Manager – Knee & VELYS plays a critical role in advancing commercial excellence by designing and delivering impactful education programs that enable sales teams and healthcare professionals to maximize the value of DePuy Synthes solutions. This role blends clinical understanding, commercial acumen, and learning expertise to build best-in-class training experiences across knee reconstruction and robotic-assisted technologies. You will directly influence customer outcomes, accelerate adoption of innovative solutions, and drive business growth through capability-building.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deliver comprehensive education programs for Knee and VELYS portfolios, aligned with commercial strategy
- Partner with sales, marketing, and clinical stakeholders to identify capability gaps and translate them into targeted learning solutions
- Lead training initiatives (in-person and virtual) for sales teams and healthcare professionals to enhance product knowledge and procedural proficiency
- Establish and track key performance indicators to measure the effectiveness of training programs and continuously improve outcomes
- Develop and maintain training materials, including digital content, simulations, and product demonstrations
- Support product launches and commercialization efforts through tailored education strategies and training deployment
- Collaborate with regional and global teams to ensure alignment of education standards and best practices
- Act as a subject matter expert for Knee and VELYS solutions within the education function, supporting field teams and customer interactions
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, quality standards, and company policies in all educational activities

Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree required (in Life Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, Business, or a related field)
- Advanced degree preferred (e.g., MSc, MBA, or clinical qualification)
Required Experience and Skills
- Significant experience in medical devices, healthcare, or commercial training/education
- Proven experience designing and delivering training programs for sales or clinical audiences
- Strong understanding of orthopedic procedures and/or enabling technologies (e.g., robotics, navigation)
- Demonstrated ability to use data and performance metrics to evaluate and improve training effectiveness
- Excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and influence without direct authority
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Experience and Skills
- Experience in knee reconstruction or robotic-assisted surgery (e.g., VELYS or equivalent platforms)
- Background in sales enablement, commercial excellence, or professional education within MedTech
- Experience supporting product launches and driving adoption through training initiatives
- Familiarity with adult learning principles, digital learning tools, and simulation-based training
- Demonstrated success working in global or regional organizations
- Project management experience across complex programs

Other Requirements
- Language: Fluent in English (additional European languages are a plus)
- Travel: Up to 40–50% across the UK and Europe
- Certifications: Relevant clinical or training certifications preferred
Note regarding the planned separation: Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate its Orthopaedics business to establish a standalone orthopaedics company, DePuy Synthes. The hiring process will follow Johnson & Johnson procedures, with the expectation that successful candidates will be transitioned to DePuy Synthes if/when the separation occurs.
