Your new company
A London-based Local Authority is seeking an experienced Commercial Estates Manager to join its property team on an interim basis. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in managing and maximising the value of a diverse commercial property portfolio while supporting the council's wider asset management and income generation objectives.
Your new role
As Commercial Estates Manager, you will be responsible for the strategic and operational management of a varied commercial estate portfolio. You will provide expert property advice, lead landlord and tenant negotiations, oversee lease events, and identify opportunities to optimise income and asset performance.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Managing a diverse commercial property portfolio
- Leading rent reviews, lease renewals, acquisitions and disposals
- Providing strategic asset management advice to senior stakeholders
- Identifying income generation and value enhancement opportunities
- Managing landlord and tenant matters, including negotiations and disputes
- Supporting portfolio performance reporting and business planning
- Working closely with internal departments, external agents and legal teams
- Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and best practice

What you'll need to succeed
- MRICS qualified (essential)
- Strong commercial estate management experience
- Proven experience managing complex property portfolios
- Excellent knowledge of landlord and tenant legislation
- Strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills
- Ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment
- Experience within the public sector is desirable but not essential.
- Experience managing telecommunications assets or a VCS (Voluntary Community Sector) portfolio would be highly advantageous.
