Location: Bernard Matthews Foods Limited, Holton, IP19 8NJ
Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 per annum
Hours: Monday to Friday, Full-Time, Onsite
About the Role
Bernard Matthews Foods Limited is seeking a commercially focused and analytical Commercial Finance Analyst to join our Finance team at our Holton site. This is an exciting opportunity for a finance professional with FMCG experience to play a key role in supporting business performance, profitability, and decision-making across the organisation.
The successful candidate will provide detailed analysis of customer and product profitability, support new and existing product development through robust financial modelling, deliver insightful promotional analysis, and maintain oversight of stock reporting and valuation. Working closely with Commercial, Operations, and Finance teams, you will help drive profitable growth through high-quality financial insight and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Costing & Profitability
- Ensure all products are accurately costed, maintaining and regularly refreshing the product costing model.
- Deliver regular analysis of current costs versus customer pricing and assess impacts on profitability.
- Maintain pricing hierarchies and margin hurdle rates, ensuring any deviations are appropriately authorised and documented.
- Ensure all product costings and promotions are approved in line with the prevailing Delegated Level of Authority (DLA).
Promotional & Customer Analysis
- Manage promotional and customer terms funding accruals, carrying out regular reconciliations and variance analysis.
- Proactively escalate any financial risks or significant variances to Commercial Managers and the Senior Finance Team.
- Critically evaluate promotional activity both before and after implementation, providing recommendations to maximise return on investment.

Reporting & Financial Analysis
- Produce and present weekly and monthly customer and product sales and margin reports, including promotional and customer terms analysis.
- Prepare and present weekly and monthly stock reporting, including both business and group valuations.
- Analyse Purchase Price Variance (PPV) and its impact on overall profitability.
- Deliver clear, accurate, and insightful financial information that supports informed business decisions.
Forecasting & Budgeting
- Support the Senior Operations Accountant (SOA) with forecasting and budgeting activities.
- Contribute to the preparation of P&L forecasts, product costings, promotional planning, and risk and opportunity assessments.
- Assist with delivering a controlled and accurate period-end close process with no outstanding financial queries.
Business Support
- Provide financial support for business improvement projects and cross-functional initiatives.
- Provide cover for system pricing updates when required.
- Respond to ad-hoc requests from Commercial teams and senior stakeholders.
- Liaise with departments across the business to ensure financial impacts are accurately recorded and reported.
- Provide additional support to the Senior Finance Team as required.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will be a commercially aware finance professional with strong analytical skills and experience within a fast-paced FMCG environment.
Essential Requirements
- Part-qualified accountant (ACCA or CIMA).
- Minimum of four years' relevant experience within an FMCG business.
- Demonstrable understanding of key commercial drivers and profitability levers.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain financial information to non-finance colleagues.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting systems.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-moving environment.
Desirable
- Experience of product costing, pricing analysis, and promotional evaluation.
- Experience of stock valuation and inventory reporting.
- Previous exposure to forecasting, budgeting, and financial planning processes.
