Vital Services is on an ambitious journey – reshaping how high-quality, fully managed healthcare facilities are delivered for Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust. As they enter a new phase of growth, they’re looking for a dynamic Finance & Commercial Director to help shape their future.

This is a rare opportunity to join a purpose-driven organisation with the agility of a commercial business and the values of the NHS. You’ll sit at the heart of a newly restructured Board, leading financial strategy, commercial performance, and long-term sustainability across a diverse portfolio of estates, facilities, sustainability, medical engineering, and capital project services.

What you’ll lead

  • Long-term financial strategy, planning, and reporting.
  • Commercial strategy, contract performance, and negotiations.
  • Business development and growth opportunities.
  • Governance, assurance, and risk management.
  • Efficiency, transformation, and value-for-money programmes.

What you’ll bring

  • A professional accountancy qualification (CIPFA, CIMA, ACCA, ICAEW).
  • Senior financial leadership experience in a contract-driven environment.
  • Strong commercial acumen and experience managing FM/estates contracts.
  • A collaborative, values-driven approach aligned with public-service ethos.
  • Experience working with public-sector clients – ideally the NHS.
  • Demonstrates and champions Vital Services and BWC NHSFT values - ambitious, brave, compassionate.
  • Operates with integrity, transparency, and commercial discipline.
