Role Description

This is a full-time Commercial Healthcare Insurance Handler role based in Southend-On-Sea and our London offices, with a hybrid working arrangement, allowing some work from home. The role involves managing a portfolio of healthcare and commercial insurance clients, including:

The handler will review policy wordings, assess client requirements, liaise with insurers, and ensure that coverage aligns with regulatory and contractual obligations. Daily tasks include:

  • Responding to client queries
  • Maintaining accurate records
  • Following up on documentation
  • Supporting claims notification and follow-through

The role also requires regular communication with internal teams and underwriters, contributing to process improvements and delivering consistent, high-quality service.

Qualifications

  • Experience in commercial insurance handling, ideally within healthcare or medical malpractice lines.
  • Strong client service skills, including clear communication, relationship management, and proactive follow-up.
  • Solid administrative abilities, such as accurate data entry, document management, and attention to detail.
  • Good analytical and numeracy skills for reviewing policy terms, premiums, and coverage comparisons.
  • Familiarity with insurance market practices, regulatory requirements, and basic risk assessment principles.
  • Comfort with hybrid working, able to manage time effectively both in-office and from home.
  • Proficiency with common office software and insurance systems; willingness to learn new tools as needed.
  • Relevant insurance qualifications (e.g., progress toward CII or equivalent) or experience in a broker or insurer environment is a requirement.
