Job Description

We're looking for a Legal Counsel to join our Commercial Legal Team, who advise on all aspects of our business. The team's primary role is supporting stakeholders to identify, assess and balance legal, regulatory and commercial risks, as well as design and implement new solutions for contractual arrangements and negotiate supplier agreements.

This position will suit an enthusiastic, proactive individual who is keen to continue their legal career in-house in a supportive and vibrant environment.

Reporting to our Assistant Legal Director, your principal duties include:

  • Overseeing contractual matters with existing and future suppliers.
  • Leading on group-wide projects.
  • Participating in RFP and due diligence reviews of suppliers.
  • Providing commercial and regulatory counsel on key strategic initiatives.
  • Providing day-to-day advice.
  • Resolving issues that arise in existing and new games commercial relationships.
  • Assisting on licensing matters.
  • Handling pre-litigation legal disputes and inquiries.

What you will do

  • Structuring, negotiating and drafting simple and complex commercial agreements (with a spectrum including marketing, technology, and licence agreements).
  • Serve as lead counsel and directly advising business clients on strategic deals.
  • Advise senior stakeholders on the launch of new products and managing all legal aspects (including identifying and mitigating potential risks).
  • Advising on the commercial implications of existing contractual obligations.
  • Review, adjust, and advise on customer-facing terms and conditions.
  • Resolve issues that arise in existing commercial relationships and handling pre-litigation legal disputes and inquiries.
  • Serve as subject matter expert and strategic advisor to the businesses in relation to legal obligations.
  • Help develop and manage risk protection programmes across the company.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key senior stakeholders (e.g. with tax, finance, IP, procurement, technology and marketing teams), acting as a trusted legal advisor to support business objectives and manage risk.
  • Providing advice and managing external counsel for provision of advice in a range of areas.
  • Proactively monitor and review legislation to help ensure accurate and up-to-date inventories of all legal obligations.

Qualifications

  • England & Wales or Gibraltar-qualified lawyer with 1 or more years PQE.
  • Strong free drafting and negotiating ability.
  • Strong interest in gambling regulations and the gambling industry, however, previous industry experience not essential.
  • Enthusiastic about taking ownership of projects and become involved in all legal aspects from start to finish.
  • Thrives working in a large team but is also comfortable working alone on smaller projects.
  • Pro-active and driven attitude and comfortable liaising with and advising senior management.
  • Excellent attention to detail and prioritisation skills with a proven ability to meet demanding deadlines.
  • Comfortable working in a fast paced and regulated environment.
