Managing Associate – Commercial & Corporate Litigation

William James Recruitment is instructed on behalf of a leading full-service law firm with an international footprint.

The Firm

Our client is a dynamic, entrepreneurial, and internationally recognised law firm, advising a wide spectrum of clients from multinational corporations and financial institutions to private individuals and entrepreneurs. The firm combines sector-specialist knowledge with deep expertise across traditional practice areas to provide tailored, commercially-focused solutions. With multiple offices across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, the firm manages complex cross-border and multi-jurisdictional matters, building long-term client partnerships based on trust, integrity, and collaboration.

The Commercial & Corporate Litigation Team

  • Acts on the full range of disputes, including High Court litigation, international and domestic arbitration, and alternative dispute resolution
  • Work often spans multiple jurisdictions and is highly complex, requiring coordination of proceedings in different countries
  • Key practice areas include banking, funds and finance disputes (including derivatives and structured finance), shareholder, joint-venture and private equity disputes, and professional services disputes
  • The team is one of the largest and highest-billing within the firm and is renowned for promoting from within

Role Overview

We are seeking a Managing Associate to join the Commercial & Corporate Litigation team in London. The role is ideal for a candidate with substantial post-qualification experience from a leading litigation team within private practice. This is a high-profile, high-responsibility role, with exposure to complex, international disputes and opportunities to supervise junior lawyers and contribute to business development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a broad and complex caseload of commercial disputes
  • Supervise junior lawyers, delegating work and providing mentorship
  • Develop client relationships and contribute actively to the team’s business development
  • Provide proactive, commercially-focused advice to clients on strategic and tactical aspects of disputes
  • Coordinate multi-jurisdictional matters, liaising with international counsel and managing complex procedural issues

Candidate Profile:

  • 2015-qualified (or equivalent) with significant experience in a leading litigation practice
  • Strong technical expertise in commercial and corporate disputes
  • Commercially minded, with the ability to contribute to business development initiatives
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment
