Commercial Litigation Partner – Leeds

The Role

William James Recruitment is exclusively instructed by a Top UK law firm seeking a Commercial Litigation Partner to join its expanding practice, with Leeds identified as a key strategic location.

The firm has very ambitious growth plans in England & Wales and is looking for Partners, team moves, and acquisitions to develop a stronger presence across their regional offices. The litigation team is the largest within the firm, giving new recruits significant influence in shaping the practice. The Leeds role offers the opportunity to develop local contacts, service existing clients, and originate new work, contributing directly to the firm’s strategic aim of increasing turnover and expanding its footprint across England.

Commercial / Corporate Disputes Team

The Disputes team handles a broad spectrum of issues involving shareholders, directors, and companies. This includes:

  • Breach of fiduciary duties
  • Unfair prejudice actions
  • Shareholder derivative claims
  • Contractual disputes
  • M&A-related litigation

The team’s clients include companies, directors, insolvency practitioners, and international clients, often involving cross-border elements.

The team is highly collaborative, combining transactional and contentious expertise, and offers an environment where new partners can play a key role in building and shaping the Leeds practice.

The Candidate

  • Established Commercial Litigation Partner with experience handling high-value, complex disputes
  • Strong experience in shareholder, director, and company disputes, including fiduciary, unfair prejudice, derivative, contractual, and M&A claims
  • Comfortable managing cross-border matters and international clients
  • Proven ability to originate work and develop client relationships, particularly in England & Wales
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and motivated to contribute to building a new regional practice
  • Collaborative, commercially aware, and client-focused
