About The Role

The Commercial Management Professional plays a key role in supporting the effective management of customer and supplier contracts across BT’s Defence and Government portfolio.

Sitting within the Contract & Business function, you’ll support the full contract lifecycle — from contract creation and negotiation through to in‑life management, invoicing, renewals and governance. Your work will help protect revenue, ensure compliance with internal and external controls, and support the ongoing improvement of commercial and contract management processes.

This is an opportunity offering strong exposure across commercial, finance, procurement and programme teams in a complex, regulated environment. You will need to either already be SC cleared, or eligible to go through the clearance process (have at minimum 5 years continuous residence in the UK).

What You’ll Be Doing

Supporting the drafting, review, negotiation and execution of business contracts with customers and suppliers Supporting the end‑to‑end contract lifecycle, from creation through to in‑life management and renewals Participating in contract negotiations across a range of deal values and complexity levels Ensuring contracts are compliant with internal governance, policies and external regulatory requirements Supporting the management and development of non‑standard contracts and contract simplification initiatives Managing commercial and financial processes including purchase orders, invoicing, renewals and associated controls Producing accurate contract and commercial data to support stakeholders and decision‑makingIdentifying opportunities to improve contract management processes and ways of working

Essential Skills / Experience

Experience in a contract, commercial, procurement or business operations role Good understanding of contract lifecycle management and commercial principles Experience working with purchase orders, invoicing, renewals and financial controls Attention to detail with good numerical capability Confident working with Excel and data/reporting tools Ability to work effectively in a large, complex or regulated environment Stakeholder engagement and communication skills

Desirable Skills / Experience

Experience supporting contracts within government, defence, public sector or regulated industries Exposure to non‑standard, complex or high‑value contractual arrangements Experience using Oracle or similar financial / contract management systems Understanding of commercial governance, audit or compliance frameworks Experience contributing to process improvement or contract simplification initiatives
