Interim Commercial Manager (Post-Contract)

We are recruiting for an experienced Commercial Manager to join a major London public sector organisation on an interim basis. This role focuses on managing strategic commercial agreements across the rail industry, requiring strong post-contract commercial management, stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.

Key Details

  • Contract: 6 months
  • Location: Southwark, London (Hybrid, 2-3 days office / 2 days WFH)
  • Rate: £388.10 PAYE or £529.95 Umbrella (Inside IR35)
  • Start: ASAP
  • Interview: Single-stage MS Teams

The Role

You'll manage a portfolio of complex interface agreements involving Network Rail and Train Operating Companies, ensuring contracts are administered effectively, commercial arrangements remain compliant, and key stakeholder relationships are maintained. The role also involves reviewing cost and payment assessments, supporting budget and forecast management, and identifying opportunities to improve processes and ways of working.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage post-contract commercial agreements and governance activities.
  • Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, Network Rail and Train Operating Companies.
  • Review cost and payment assessments against contractual entitlement.
  • Support budget management, forecasting and financial reporting.
  • Resolve commercial issues collaboratively and support ongoing partnership working.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement across the agreements portfolio.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong post-contract commercial management experience.
  • Experience administering and managing commercial agreements throughout the contract lifecycle.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong commercial negotiation and supplier relationship management experience.
  • Experience reviewing costs, payments, budgets and forecasts.
  • Rail industry experience.
  • Public sector, transport, infrastructure or regulated industry experience.

Desirable

  • Experience working with Network Rail or Train Operating Companies.
  • Financial analysis and reporting experience.
  • Contract governance experience.
  • Continuous improvement mindset.
