The Vacancy
CR Civil Engineering part of the RSK Group are a family run business, based in the Midlands, operating throughout England and Wales. We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experience Commercial Manager to join our team in Loughborough, UK.
The Role:
The Commercial Manager is responsible for preparing and submitting the commercial results of the business to the Commercial Director, and for the successful running of the commercial functions.
The Commercial Manager is also required to his utilise their knowledge of business law to verify, oversee or approve commercial agreements and documentation.
This role does involve travel as required between regional offices and live sites.
Responsibilities:
- Being responsible for a team of 6 direct reports initially, with responsibility for further recruitment and training within your team
- Assisting in the tender process in relation to commercial matters.
- Preparing monthly forecasts and budgets
- Ensuring for all additional works, Early Warnings have been raised and Compensation Events are prepared and submitted.
- Co-ordinate the commercial team to ensure programme issues are identified and actioned.
- Manage the preparation of the monthly CTC and associated commercial reports.
- Establish client supply chain requirements & advise on alternative forms of contract & procurement arrangements.
- Preparation and agreement of final accounts.
- Dispute resolution and settlement of contractual claims.
- To develop and maintain a professional relationship with existing and new clients to ensure they are satisfied with the company’s performance and to identify their future needs and requirements.
- Looks for opportunities to grow the business and works to take advantage of those opportunities.
- Work closely with the Contract Managers, ensuring optimum delivery of the project whilst exercising control of cost, procurement and management of the supply chain.
- Responsible for ensuring risk is managed and contractual issues are looked after in the company’s best interest.
- Any other duties the company may reasonably require, having at all times full regards for the company’s competitiveness and efficiency.
- To work efficiently and calmly to tight deadlines.
- To achieve set turnover and budget targets
- Assisting other Directors with commercial issues.

Key requirements, qualifications, and skills for the job:
- HNC/HND
- BSC Quantity Surveying
- Proficient with standard form and bespoke contracts NEC, JCT & NR9
- 10+ Years of Quantity Surveying
- CSCS Card
Salary & Benefits:
- Salary Commensurate on experience.
- Company Car
- 42.5 hours / week (Mon – Fri)
- Pension
- 25 days annual leave (Ex BH)
- Discretional annual bonus
