About The Anthro JV
The Anthro joint venture between Egis and VVB Engineering will provide comprehensive turn-key services for London’s state-of-the-art HS2 gateway station at Old Oak Common. We have been awarded a multi-year contract to deliver MEPHFC (Mechanical, Electrical Public Health, Fire and Communications) systems works.
About The Role
We are seeking a Commercial Manager to join our team and work on a prestigious HS2 rail project. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead and develop within the UK rail sector, working on a high-profile infrastructure project that is shaping the future of rail travel.
As a Commercial Manager, you will bring your expertise in pre and post-contract management and procurement to drive efficiencies and engage with our supply chain. You will play a crucial role in supporting the successful delivery of this major project, with opportunities for professional growth and development, including full RICS training courses and a clear path to chartership.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and develop junior members of the team
- NEC3 Contract management and administration upstream and downstream
- Establish and manage entitlement, with focus on maximising entitlement under the contract
- Investigate and draft contract communications and notices including Early Warning Notices, notification of Compensation Events, General Communications
- Liaison and negotiation with the Client’s Commercial and/or project team
- Establishing and maintaining productive and collaborative relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders
- Ensure appropriate commercial records are maintained in line with the contract requirements and oversee any contractual issues
- Provide contractual and commercial risk advice to the Commercial team and wider Technical and Construction Delivery teams
- Identify and manage risks and opportunities.
- Lead project financial monitoring and reporting, interrogate outputs, implement actions
- Contribute to, and implement, margin improvement plans
- Produce cashflow forecasts and maximise cash position
- Administration of subcontractor and supplier contracts including EWNs, change, payments, forecasts and through to final account
- The Commercial Manager will lead the review and valuation of subcontractor applications for payment in accordance with contractual terms and conditions and contractual entitlement
- Manage, monitor and report on commercial and cost reporting aspects of allocated projects and portfolio of works including CVRs and cost control
- Support the programme and project teams to ensure full compliance with contract and corporate governance rules

Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Site presence and co-location minimum 3 days a week
- Energy and enthusiasm
- Commitment to developing self and others
- Experience proactively resolving/avoiding disputes
- You must have the right to work in the UK
Desirable
- Educated to degree level
- MEP experience
- Main contractor and/or joint venture experience
- An experienced user of the NEC3-4 suite of contracts
- Experienced in controlling costs for self delivery works
- Experienced in negotiating and procuring sub-contract packages (Design-Delivery-Commission), testing the robustness of costs and value for money.
- Have, or be working towards, chartership of a relevant institution
- Able to prioritise the delivery of the objectives of their role
- Good communication skills
