Purpose of the Role
The Commercial Manager will be responsible for managing and developing strategic vendor relationships, leading commercial negotiations, overseeing marketing activity, and working collaboratively with the Sales, Technical and Framework teams to maximise profitability, vendor engagement, brand visibility, and business growth.
The role requires a commercially focused individual capable of negotiating competitive pricing and commercial terms, driving vendor-led opportunities, coordinating marketing strategy and activity, and ensuring alignment between vendors, internal stakeholders and framework requirements.
The Commercial Manager will also take responsibility for the day-to-day management and direction of the Marketing Executive, ensuring marketing activities support the Company’s strategic objectives, vendor relationships and sales pipeline development.
Key Responsibilities
Vendor Management
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with strategic vendors and distribution partners.
- Act as the primary commercial point of contact for vendor engagement.
- Manage vendor accreditations, partner statuses and commercial programmes.
- Attend vendor meetings, partner events and quarterly business reviews.
- Work with vendors to identify growth opportunities, special pricing initiatives and joint go-to-market activities.
- Monitor vendor performance, rebates, incentives and funding opportunities.
- Ensure the business maximises available vendor benefits and partner programmes.
- Meet and evaluate new suppliers.
- Maintain existing supplier relationships and provide updates on significant changes to the commercial team.
- Produce monthly reports on gaps to targets related to supplier performance.
Commercial & Price Negotiation
- Negotiate pricing, discounts, bid support and commercial terms with vendors and distributors.
- Support the Sales team with competitive pricing strategies for bids, tenders and customer opportunities.
- Review margins and profitability to ensure commercial objectives are achieved.
- Assist with pricing governance and approval processes.
- Support framework pricing exercises and tender submissions.
- Identify opportunities to improve commercial performance and cost efficiencies.

Contract Management
- Draft, review, negotiate, and manage customer and supplier contracts, including MSAs, Statements of Work (SOWs), SLAs, and service agreements.
- Ensure contractual compliance and alignment with operational delivery models.
- Manage contract renewals, extensions, variations, and termination activities.
- Oversee change control processes and ensure all contract amendments are accurately documented and commercially assessed.
- Support dispute resolution, claims management, and escalations where required.
- Maintain accurate contract documentation and governance records.
Governance, Risk & Compliance
- Ensure contracts comply with legal, regulatory, and company governance requirements.
- Monitor and report on KPIs, SLAs, service credits, and contractual deliverables.
- Support internal and external audits where required.
- Ensure commercial processes and approvals are followed consistently.
Marketing Management
- Take ownership of the Company’s vendor and commercial marketing activities.
- Manage and provide direction to the Marketing Executive.
- Work with Sales, Technical and Framework teams to develop targeted marketing campaigns aligned to business objectives.
- Coordinate vendor-led marketing campaigns, events and promotional activities.
- Manage vendor marketing development funds (MDF) and associated reporting requirements.
- Support lead generation initiatives and pipeline development activities.
- Oversee social media activity, customer communications, case studies, webinars and marketing collateral.
- Assist in promoting the Company’s services, vendor partnerships, accreditations and framework positions.
- Ensure marketing activity supports strategic growth areas and vendor priorities.
- Monitor marketing effectiveness and campaign return on investment.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Sales teams to support pipeline development and strategic opportunities.
- Collaborate with Technical teams to ensure proposed solutions align with vendor strategies and customer requirements.
- Support Framework and Bid teams with commercial responses, pricing compliance and vendor engagement.
- Coordinate internally to ensure effective communication of vendor programmes, promotions and updates.
- Support the development of strategic business plans with key vendors.
Reporting & Administration
- Produce regular reports on vendor performance, margins, rebates, marketing activity and commercial performance.
- Maintain accurate records of vendor agreements, pricing structures and commercial documentation.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity and emerging technologies.
- Assist in forecasting vendor revenue targets and commercial objectives.
Frameworks & Tenders Support

- Assist Framework Team in managing frameworks and tenders.
- Contributing to writing responses for framework bids.
- Gathering competitive commercial information for framework submissions.
Skills & Experience Required
- Professional qualification such as CIPS, IACCM / WorldCC, or equivalent is desirable.
- Relevant experience in managed services, outsourcing, technology, or operational service delivery environments preferred.
- Proven experience in a Commercial Manager, Vendor Manager, Channel Manager or similar role.
- Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
- Experience working with technology vendors and distributors.
- Experience overseeing or coordinating marketing activity.
- Understanding of public sector frameworks and tender environments desirable.
- Excellent relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Strong organisational and analytical capability.
- Ability to work collaboratively across Sales, Technical, Marketing and Commercial teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and reporting tools.

Job details
- Hours: 0900-1730hrs Monday - Friday
- Job Type: Full-time / permanent / onsite preferred (OX29 4TT), however a hybrid working model will be considered.
- Salary: A competitive salary based on experience. This will be discussed at initial call stage.
- Enhanced DBS check will be required
- UK location and full RTW is required.
