Commercial Manager £65,000 – £75,000 + Car Allowance | Permanent | Rochdale (Office Based with Site Visits)

We are a modern, ambitious and fast-growing construction business in Rochdale to recruit a Commercial Manager.
This is a genuine opportunity to become part of the senior leadership team, taking ownership of the commercial function and helping shape how it develops as the business continues to grow.
We’re looking for someone who enjoys making decisions, improving processes and having real influence—not someone who wants to sit in a corporate structure waiting for sign-off.
The business delivers a varied portfolio of projects across civil engineering, groundworks and industrial/commercial construction, with project values typically ranging from £200,000 to £1 million.
Whether you’re already an experienced Commercial Manager or an ambitious Senior Quantity Surveyor ready for the next step, this role offers the autonomy and progression to make that move.

The Role
Reporting directly to the Directors, you’ll take ownership of the commercial performance across multiple live projects, ensuring profitability whilst helping develop robust commercial systems and processes.
This is a broad role where you’ll oversee the entire commercial lifecycle whilst remaining close to the operational teams.
Responsibilities include:
- Managing the commercial lifecycle from tender through to final account
- Producing CVRs, commercial reports and profitability analysis
- Managing applications for payment, valuations, variations and final accounts
- Leading procurement and subcontractor negotiations
- Reviewing tender opportunities and supporting pricing strategy
- Working closely with project teams to maximise commercial performance
- Building long-term relationships with clients and subcontractors
- Visiting sites to maintain commercial oversight
- Helping develop and improve commercial processes as the business grows

About You
You’ll already have a strong commercial background within construction and enjoy working in a business where you can genuinely make an impact.
We’re open to candidates from backgrounds including:
- Civil Engineering
- Groundworks
- Industrial or Commercial Construction
- Steel Frame Construction
- Shed Build / Industrial Unit Developments
- External Works
You’ll ideally have experience with:
- Commercial Manager or Senior Quantity Surveyor responsibilities
- Managing multiple live projects
- CVRs, valuations, variations and final accounts
- JCT contracts (NEC knowledge beneficial)
- Strong commercial awareness and financial control
- Building relationships with clients, subcontractors and project teams
- Working within an SME or entrepreneurial environment would be advantageous
