Project Commercial Manager
Location: East Yorkshire (Office-based with occasional project travel as required)
Job Type: 12 month Fixed Term Contract
About the Role
We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing construction business for an experienced Project Commercial Manager. This is an excellent opportunity to join a successful commercial team and play a key role in delivering high-value construction projects.
Working closely with operational and commercial colleagues, you will take ownership of the commercial management of a major project from inception through to final account. You'll be responsible for maintaining commercial performance, managing contractual obligations under NEC contracts, and ensuring the project remains financially robust.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide end-to-end commercial management across allocated construction projects.
- Manage project costs, margins and cash flow to maximise commercial performance.
- Prepare and submit accurate, timely applications for payment.
- Produce and maintain project cash flow forecasts and financial reports.
- Review NEC contract documentation to identify commercial risks, opportunities and compliance requirements.
- Manage variations, change control and compensation events.
- Support the timely agreement of final accounts with clients and subcontractors.
- Monitor project performance against cost plans, identifying risks to profitability and recommending corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate commercial records and project documentation.
- Work collaboratively with operational teams to ensure alignment on project progress and commercial performance.
- Support commercial review processes and maintain accurate reporting within business systems.
- Assist with subcontractor procurement, valuations and commercial negotiations.
- Ensure prompt cash collection and resolution of commercial queries.

About You

We're looking for an experienced commercial professional who can demonstrate:
- Strong experience administering and managing NEC contracts.
- Proven experience working on large-scale construction projects.
- Excellent knowledge of cost management, commercial reporting and contract administration.
- An understanding of construction contract law.
- Strong analytical, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships with clients, subcontractors and internal stakeholders.
