Associate Commercial Manager

About the Role
As an Associate Commercial Manager, you will play a key supporting role in enabling the business to secure and execute high-quality commercial deals. Your work will bridge sector strategy, sales, contracting, and delivery—ensuring that agreements are competitive, compliant, sustainably profitable, and in alignment with both customer outcomes and sector goals. This role covers all Products and Services Sector Customers, ensuring broad applicability across our offerings.
Your responsibilities include:
- Supporting proposal development, pricing, negotiation, and contract management
- Balancing commercial pragmatism with risk awareness while driving customer-centred solutions
- Identifying commercial risks and opportunities, mitigations, and aligning decisions across functions
- Serving as a trusted advisor to internal/external stakeholders
Responsibilities
Deal Support & Commercial Delivery
- Contribute to shaping competitive, viable proposals that align with customer needs and business objectives
- Structure deals to ensure pricing, risk allocation, and delivery assumptions are transparent, achievable, and sustainable
- Assist in drafting and negotiating contractual terms, work orders, and pricing models
- Lead/participate in supplier and customer negotiations, ensuring risk flow-down/up is structured effectively
Commercial Strategy & Deal Making
- Collaborate on pricing strategies for new opportunities, emphasising value-driven and practical approaches
- Help balance growth ambitions with realistic commercial outcomes, improving client experience
- Support simplification of contractual processes to expedite agreements
- Advise on strategic commercial frameworks to enhance positioning and defend margins
Risk & Opportunity Management
- Identify and assess commercial risks and opportunities throughout the deal lifecycle and in active contracts
- Develop mitigation strategies, ensuring oversight of exposure metrics, work-in-progress, and dependencies
- Assist in quantifying risks and communicating their impact to stakeholders

Contract & Post-Signature Management
- Provide support to delivery teams on contract interpretation, changes, and disputes to safeguard revenue and margins
- Lead activities such as debt recovery, rate-card management, and payment mechanism optimisation
- Collaborate on issue resolution, ensuring adherence to contractual terms and preventing margin erosion
Supplier & Governance Management
- Monitor supplier contracts, ensuring alignment with customer obligations, regulatory compliance, and security/data protection standards
- Contribute to consistent governance protocols, approval processes, and policy adherence
Stakeholder Management & Influence
- Build functional partnerships across Sales, Delivery, Legal, Finance, Suppliers, and Customers
- Act as a commercial advisor, translating intent into actionable operational strategies
- Foster cross-functional alignment with pragmatic commercial guidance
Commercial Excellence & Capability Building
- Support the development of pricing policies, frameworks, and commercial best practices
- Advise on training initiatives to enhance commercial knowledge across the sector
- Contribute to IP strategy regarding commercial trade-offs and proprietary asset management
Experience & Requirements
Key Qualifications
- Proven experience in commercial, contracts, or deal support roles, preferably in technology or services sectors
- In-depth knowledge of the entire deal lifecycle—from bid submission to contract renewal
- Experience with pricing mechanisms, commercial risk management, and contract structuring
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills and ability to influence senior leaders
