Are you an experienced Commercial or Procurement professional looking to expand your skills and experience?
Our purpose is taking care of life’s essentials—but we’re also big on making a difference, not just because we should, but because we care.
That’s why we’re investing over £6 billion into our capital programme over the next five years, delivering resilient, sustainable water and wastewater services for millions of customers.
Within our Capital Commercial team, we’re looking for Commercial Managers to join us in our Coventry, Derby and Shrewsbury offices.
Are you already a Commercial Manager looking for your next challenge?
Perhaps you’re a Senior Quantity Surveyor ready to step up? Or are you a Procurement or Category professional looking to apply your skills in a more project-driven, infrastructure-focused environment?
WHY IS THIS ROLE DIFFERENT
This is a great opportunity for Procurement professionals to transition into the construction and infrastructure sector, where you’ll:
- Move beyond transactional procurement into end-to-end commercial ownership
- Work closely with project teams, engineers, and delivery partners
- See how your decisions directly impact live infrastructure projects and communities
- Develop skills in contract management, cost assurance, and NEC frameworks (full support and training provided)
EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
As a Commercial Manager, you’ll play a key role in delivering our capital investment programme—working at the heart of projects that truly matter.
You’ll partner with colleagues across Design, Delivery, Finance and Legal, alongside our supply chain, to ensure we’re delivering the right outcomes for our customers and communities.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
