Are you early in your career or working in procurement or commercial roles and looking to develop your skills in a position that makes a real difference?

At Severn Trent, our purpose is taking care of life’s essentials. We’re investing over £6 billion into our capital programme to deliver the infrastructure our customers and communities rely on every day.

With a programme of this scale, we’re growing our Capital Commercial team and are looking for Assistant Quantity Surveyors to join us in our Coventry, Derby and Shrewsbury offices.

This is a great opportunity to start or build your career in a supportive environment, whether you’re already in an assistant role or looking to transition into the sector.

WHY IS THIS ROLE DIFFERENT

This isn’t just an entry-level role or a traditional procurement position.

As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor at Severn Trent, you’ll gain hands-on experience across both procurement and project delivery, helping you understand how commercial decisions directly impact large-scale infrastructure projects.

In This Role You Will

  • Develop experience across sourcing, contract management and project delivery
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers and supply chain partners
  • Gain practical exposure to cost management, commercial processes and contracts
  • Be supported with structured development and opportunities to achieve professional qualifications

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you’ll support the commercial delivery of projects and contracts, building your confidence and capability across a wide range of activities.

You’ll work under the guidance of a Senior Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager, developing your ability to take on more responsibility over time.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
