Commercial Manager / Senior Quantity Surveyor Drylining & Plastering
Location: Calverton, Nottingham (primarily office based) with site visits across the East Midlands and South Yorkshire. Candidates should ideally be based within 20 miles of the office.
Working Hours: Full Time
Salary: £55,000 - £65,000 per annum
A family-run business established in 1974, our client is one of the largest facades, flat roofing, screeding, plastering and dry lining contractors in the East Midlands, providing national coverage.
They are currently seeking a Commercial Manager / Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead and manage all commercial and contractual aspects of drylining projects, ensuring profitability, cost control and compliance throughout the project lifecycle. The Commercial Manager will support tendering, delivery and financial performance in line with project and client requirements.
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will oversee the commercial management of drylining and plastering projects typically valued between £50,000 and £300,000.

The Role
- End-of-month valuations
- Cost control and monitoring
- Material costing and procurement checks
- Managing variations and extras with clients
- Commercial management of drylining projects
- Site measurement and valuation work
- Supporting Contracts Managers on site
- Client liaison
- Contract administration
- Pre-contract through to final account management
- Budgeting, valuations and forecasting
- Change management (variations, compensation events, cost adjustments)
- Risk identification and mitigation
- Cost-to-complete forecasting
- Tender support and cost plans
- Procurement schedules and subcontractor/supplier negotiation
- Final account negotiations and contract closure
What We're Looking For
- Experience working for a drylining/plastering contractor
- Strong drylining experience
- Strong plastering sector experience
- Minimum 5+ years commercial experience (10+ years preferred)
- Experience as Commercial Manager / Senior Quantity Surveyor / Managing Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Lead within drylining, plastering, interiors, partitions or ceilings
- Strong Excel skills
- Experience with JCT contracts and NEC contracts
- Comfortable carrying out site visits and valuations
- Strong client-facing communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects
