Commercial Manager - Southern Water Strategic Delivery Programme

Location: Falmer, Brighton - remote working available, with occasional travel to the office required.

Hours: 40 hours per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.

We are unable to offer certificates of sponsorship to any candidates in this role.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join Kier as we embark on a strategic partnership with Southern Water to deliver their ambitious AMP 8 Water cycle programme. As Commercial Manager, you'll play a vital role in mobilising projects across Southern Water's areas, bringing your expertise to a dynamic and growing team.

Responsibilities

As a Commercial Manager, you'll be working within the Southern Water Strategic Delivery Programme team, supporting them with the Stage 2 Readiness and transition into securing Stage 2 Works. Your day-to-day will include:

  • Leading the commercial performance of contracts through effective management of resources, understanding contract conditions, and implementing risk management strategies
  • Collaborating with the Senior Leadership Team to develop commercial strategies that drive successful project delivery and profitability
  • Managing and mentoring a team of commercial professionals across the region, identifying talent and fostering development
  • Producing high-level commercial reports and presenting to board level stakeholders
  • Overseeing monthly valuations, cost forecasting, and financial reporting to maximise cash flow and project performance

Requirements

This role of Commercial Manager is great for you if:

  • You hold a relevant degree in Quantity Surveying and Chartered Status (or equivalent professional qualification)
  • You have experience in a senior commercial role within a Tier 1 contracting environment, ideally within the Water sector or regulated utilities
  • You possess excellent contractual knowledge, including NEC and JCT conditions
  • You have a proven track record of producing board-level commercial reports and developing successful commercial strategies
  • You're an inspiring leader who can manage teams, drive collaboration, and foster an inclusive working environment
