About Yorkshire Water

Working Location & Flexibility
This role is initially based in Bradford, with relocation to Leeds Valley Park planned for summer 2026. Hybrid working is in place—1–2 office days per week is expected.

The Role: Commercial Manager – Transformation
Commercial Services is critical to the business’s long-term strategy, ensuring financial stability through procurement and commercial management. Within this, Commercial Excellence leads the Centre of Excellence approach, defining standards, improving processes, and driving capability. You’ll lead this team, aligning activities to strategy, monitoring commercial performance, and embedding continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead Sustainability & Excellence in Commercial Services, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and high performance standards
- Develop and refine operating models, frameworks, and ways of working, embedding “what good looks like”
- Build strong cross-functional relationships, influencing stakeholders to prioritise outcomes and improve commercial performance
- Drive constructive challenges to maximise value and drive sustainable change
- Foster capability development, ensuring teams have clarity, tools, and skills to deliver effectively
- Provide end-to-end oversight of commercial activities, ensuring leadership action focuses on key strategic insights
- Lead growth initiatives by managing portfolios, prioritising projects, and embedding change
- Translate data-driven insights into actionable plans and decision-making
Skills & Requirements
Essential
- Proven leadership in multi-disciplinary teams, driving high performance
- Strategic and tactical agility, translating vision into execution
- Strong stakeholder influence, ability to challenge constructively
- Experience in operating models, governance, or performance frameworks
- Analytical prowess, turning complex data into clear deliverables
- Understanding of commercial, operational, and regulated environments
- Managing complex portfolios and competing priorities with agility
- Track record of driving change, embedding sustainable improvements

Desirable
- Experience in matrix/cross-functional environments
- Background in commercial, procurement, or regulated industries (ideally utilities)
- Knowledge of UK regulatory frameworks
- Familiarity with change management & transformation methodologies
