Equans is looking for a Commercial Manager to join the team on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary, company vehicle or allowance, bonus and benefits package.

The role offers hybrid working. The post holder will cover contracts in Bristol, Oxford, Worcester, and Dudley.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the commercial delivery across a portfolio of PFI contracts, working closely with the Sector Director.
  • Provide contract commercial management and profit improvement, risk and opportunity management along with focus on compliance.
  • Manage numerous stakeholder relationships, including external relationships with clients, suppliers, and internal BU leadership and functions.
  • Lead commercial management resources to ensure effective and pro-active commercial management of the allocated contracts.
  • Hold collective responsibility with Account senior management team to improve operations and deliver against financial plans.

What You Will Deliver

  • Analyse and manage risk including assessing the revenue opportunity vs. cost and risk.
  • Manage and secure internal approvals for new bid opportunities.
  • Manage the commercial viability of variations.
  • Lead negotiations encompassing multiple disciplines including supplier negotiations and flow-downs.
  • Support the management of PFI Lifecycle funds.
  • Produce reports and summaries (ad hoc and regular) which articulate key matters for a senior and/or non-commercial audience.
  • Experienced in defining, driving and overseeing commercial & contract governance.
  • Lead governance within the contracts to ensure that the requirements of the contract are being complied with.
  • Aid the quality of service by ensuring awareness of contractual responsibilities among all other Equans colleagues (including contract deliverables, scope of services etc).
  • Enforce commercial compliance (by audit and support against Equans Minimum Commercial Standards).
  • Be professional and equitable negotiators and dispute resolvers but ultimately rebutting unfounded contractual claims.
  • Take a key role in the management of contractual claims / disputes with clients and other third-parties.
  • Production of claims to any potential contentious contractual issue that may arise.
  • Ensure full commercial governance to all subcontractors/suppliers.
  • Provide day-to-day commercial support to the varying Suite of Contracts and their respective management teams.
  • Ensure all functions comply with regard SFM Governance process within the contracts and DLAs (Delegated level of Authority).

Who We Are Looking For

  • Educated to degree/ diploma level in either Law, Business, Surveying (Building/Quantity), or the Built Environment (FM, Land).
  • Understanding and practical application of base UK law applicable to Commercial (Construction Act etc).
  • Ideally a member or training to be member of a chartered institution.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong & confident communicator able to successfully engage and influence at all levels of the organisation, including up to Divisional Management and senior members of Functional Teams.
  • Confident decision-maker. Resilient and self-motivated.
  • Excellent working knowledge of PFI contracts.
