Independent Non-Executive Director Opportunity – Together Commercial Board & Committee

We manage an estate of 38,000+ homes spanning:
- Lancashire & Yorkshire
- From the east to west coast
- South to Derbyshire & Lincolnshire
In April 2026, our new Corporate Plan was launched, guiding our strategic direction for the next five years.
Role Overview
Objective: Provide governance, oversight and strategic direction to our Commercial Board and Committee, ensuring our projects align with our social impact mission and financial sustainability.
Skills & Experience We Seek
While all forward-thinking applicants are encouraged, we’re particularly looking for experience in:
- Construction & development
- Housing building through Joint Ventures
- Property sales market (understanding of commercialisation & transactional flow)
- Renewables & low-carbon markets
- Contract Management

Key Combined Requirements:
- A strong understanding of both social housing operational projects and commercial objectives.
- Ability to balance profit-driven commercial activity with social value outcomes.
- Clear communication, strategic thinking, and governance expertise.
Commitment & Working Pattern
The role expects approximately 1 day per month of commitment, including:
- Meeting preparation – reviewing papers beforehand
- Hybrid working model:
- 50% virtual meetings (Microsoft Teams)
- 50% in-person meetings
- Expected 7 face-to-face days per year, including:
- Four committee meetings (balance of fully virtual & in-person)
- Annual strategy days (usually in North Yorkshire)
- Two–three additional in-person meetings

Remuneration & Terms
- Annual fee: £5,899
- Reasonable travel expenses covered for all in-person meetings.
