Job Description

As a key member of our ICS Commercial Team you’ll work cross-functionally and directly with customers to drive high-impact commercial outcomes.

The role focuses on implementing complex infrastructure, consulting with internal teams and advising on commercial aspects ensuring we deliver innovative solutions for submarine programmes and future support.

Core Duties

  • Comprehensive contract and subcontract management support across the contract lifecycle, including:
    • Bidding
    • Contract administration
    • Monitoring compliance
    • Managing variations
    • Configuration management
    • Ensuring accurate documentation for contract closure
  • Drafting and negotiation of agreements including:
    • Preparing, reviewing, and refining contractual documents and commercial agreements
    • Leading negotiations to secure favourable terms and mitigate risks
  • Ensuring contracts and subcontracts are legally sound, commercially viable, and align with organisational objectives.
  • Building Good customer-focused relationships with internal teams and external customers:
    • Applying a high degree of collaboration, accountability and user need to develop long term partnerships
    • Taking ownership of delivering value for both the business and customer
  • Providing guidance and support to stakeholders across the business, whilst contributing to best practices for the development of holistic commercial management.

Essential Skills

  • Contract, procurement, and commercial acumen, including:
    • Knowledge of terms and conditions, contract types and associated commercial risks/opportunities
    • Experience working in complex environments with regular stakeholder liaison
  • Exceptional communication abilities with:
    • A collaborative, adaptable and organised approach
    • Proven ability to build, maintain and strengthen client/customer partnerships
  • Accuracy in reviewing contracts, documents, and data to identify risks and irregularities
  • Strong analytical skills with the capacity to interpret and act on complex commercial inputs, and understand the importance of accuracy and attention to detail across all commercial agreements.

ICS Commercial Team

  • The ICS Commercial Team works cross-functionally with key stakeholders to support all submarine programmes.
  • Responsibilities include but are not limited to contract preparation, negotiations, bidding, drafting and writing documentation, as well as configuring and managing contracts throughout their lifecycle.
  • Career development is fully supported with opportunities to grow into management roles, alongside skillset development through recognised training programs.
  • Works closely with engineering, environment and external commercial teams to implement trusted methods and facilitate smart decisions. Ensure compliance with internal governance requirements and agree and deliver deliverables for BAE Systems Castle Alexand is a submarine base located in Wales that provides logistic support to Royal Navy submarines
  • Relocation support packages are offered subject to eligibility criteria for all Submarines roles.

    • 5 years of continuous residency in the UK (for a SC clearance)
    • 10 years for Developed Vetting (old SC) depending on the vetting level required.
