The individual selected for this role will be responsible for delivering contracts management activities across the full spectrum of commercial actions associated with the provision of supplies and services — from capture and proposal development through contract award and all phases of contract administration.

Working within a collaborative and fast-paced environment, the role will provide commercial guidance and support across multiple business functions including programme management, finance, legal, subcontracts, business development, engineering, human resources, accounting, and compliance.

Responsibilities will include managing contract solicitations, supporting capture activities, conducting negotiations, administering contract terms, and ensuring fulfilment of associated contractual obligations.

The successful candidate will act as a key interface with Customer buying representatives, building effective and trusted relationships while supporting wider business goals and objectives.

The role will also involve coordinating solutions to contractual issues and Customer concerns related to Company performance, ensuring contractual compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, and maintaining adherence to Delegation of Authority and approval requirements.

Additional responsibilities will include supporting internal and external audits, ensuring final contract documentation accurately reflects negotiated agreements, contributing to contract management best practice initiatives, compiling contractual data and reports for Corporate and Business Area requests, and managing multiple complex contracts and stakeholder relationships with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of commercial and contract models and apply them effectively across a range of agreements and programmes
  • Ensure Terms and Conditions compliance, proactively identifying commercial risks and implementing effective solutions and mitigations
  • Independently identify, define, and implement contract revisions and process improvements in accordance with established procedures
  • Liaise effectively with internal stakeholders, customers, and suppliers, providing commercial guidance and support relevant to assigned agreements
  • Organise and maintain accurate contract documentation and records
  • Ensure timely completion of all contract actions and contract close-out activities
  • Keep internal and external stakeholders informed of key issues, risks, and mitigation or resolution activities
  • Ensure effective flow-down of prime contract commercial requirements to suppliers.

Required skills, qualifications and experience:

  • Experience within a Commercial Officer or similar Contracts Management role
  • Experience supporting Major Projects, Programmes, or Complex Contracts
  • Strong understanding of commercial and contract models and their practical application
  • Experience ensuring Terms and Conditions compliance, identifying risks, and implementing commercial solutions
  • Ability to independently identify, define, and implement contract revisions and improvements
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong analytical, report-writing, and organisational skills
  • Ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders across varying levels of seniority
  • SC clearance, or the ability to achieve SC clearance, is required for this role

Desired Skills

  • MOD / Defence Contracts Management experience
  • Experience supporting Business Development activities, including Capture Management and Bid support.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 3 years of professional experience; or 1 year of professional experience with a related Masters degree. Considered experienced, but still a learner.
