Do you enjoy developing winning commercial strategies and managing complex bid processes?

Are you passionate about driving commercial excellence, managing contractual risks, and delivering high-quality proposals that support business growth?

Join a team that delivers essential services

At Baker Hughes, our Process & Pipeline Services (PPS) team provides innovative solutions that help customers maximize operational efficiency, safety, and asset integrity. Working across diverse markets and regions, our team supports customers with industry-leading technologies and services designed to solve complex operational challenges.

Partner with the best

As a Commercial Operations Specialist, you will be responsible for reviewing customer enquiries, determining and validating appropriate technical and commercial solutions, and leading bid-related activities for the assigned region. You will play a key role in ensuring proposals are completed on time, meet customer requirements, and align with Baker Hughes commercial policies and processes.

In addition to core Commercial Operations responsibilities, you will take ownership of the contract review process, act as a focal point for contractual risk management within the team, and support the maintenance of customer contracts and MSAs across the region. You will also provide coaching, training, and operational support to strengthen Commercial Operations capabilities and drive continuous improvement.

As a Commercial Operations Specialist, you will be responsible for:

  • Preparing and Reviewing Commercial Proposals: Preparing and reviewing tenders, proposals, and pre-qualification responses, including technical, commercial, and contractual aspects of bid documentation.
  • Managing Bid Preparation Activities: Leading all aspects of bid preparation in accordance with PPS business rules and Inquiry-to-Order (ITO) processes while coordinating with regional leadership on bid-related matters.
  • Supporting Bid Strategy Development: Working closely with Sales teams to formulate bid strategies, identify Deal and Risk Review requirements, and mitigate commercial risks during the proposal phase.
  • Maintaining Commercial Systems Accuracy: Ensuring all relevant bid-related information is accurately entered and maintained within Baker Hughes commercial systems in a timely manner.
  • Driving Process Excellence: Developing a strong understanding of Commercial Operations processes and systems while contributing to process simplification initiatives that reduce cycle time, improve service quality, and lower costs.
  • Collaborating Across Functions: Building strong working relationships with Sales, Legal, Finance, Tax, Operations, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and successful bid execution.
  • Supporting Scope and Proposal Development: Working closely with local Operations teams to ensure proposals accurately reflect scope of work, assumptions, and project requirements.
  • Coordinating Technical Assessments: Partnering with Applications Engineering teams to ensure technical evaluations are completed accurately and within required timelines.
  • Managing Key Commercial Agreements: Working with Regional Commercial Operations, Sales, and Operations Leadership to support key customer accounts, contract renewals, master service agreements, and tender opportunities.
  • Supporting Contract Risk Management: Providing coaching, guidance, and escalation support related to contractual risk management activities across the Commercial Operations team.
  • Delivering Training and Development: Coordinating, facilitating, and delivering Commercial Operations training for both new and existing team members.
  • Supporting Regional Leadership: Acting as primary backup for the Regional Commercial Operations Manager and serving as a focal point for the team during periods of absence.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
