Commercial Partnership Manager

JOB DETAILS

JOB BAND: D CONTRACT TYPE: Full-time Perm DEPARTMENT: BBC Studios LOCATION: London PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: Up to £55,600 + London Weighting (£5,441) depending on relevant skills, knowledge, and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

The position is responsible for growing the revenue and profitability of the channels and streaming business across Benelux and Nordics, within the Pay-TV environment.


YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & IMPACT:

  • Structure and negotiate distribution deals and agreements across the Nordic and Benelux markets, covering linear channels, VOD, streaming, and emerging digital video opportunities.
  • Responsible for identifying and executing all new affiliate agreements with the most commercially advantageous deal terms for the company.
  • Develops, evaluates, and recruits potential distribution partners in line with the overall sales strategy and revenue targets.
  • Supports relevant partners throughout the sales process, including:
    • Marketing activities
    • Advertising campaigns
    • Sales promotions (to achieve revenue targets and improve audience engagement, discoverability, and monetisation).
  • Manages relationships with affiliate partners, acting as the lead point of contact across:
    • Renewals
    • Performance reviews
    • Product launches
    • Marketing activities
    • Issue resolution
  • Identifies and targets prospect systems; develops, adds, and maintains a detailed database of distributor contacts.
  • Works with Marketing to:
    • Identify commercial initiatives addressing distributors’ (operators’) strategies/goals
    • Oversees their effective execution.
  • Works with the Legal Department to:
    • Shape commercial negotiations
    • Assist in drafting commercial terms in agreements.
  • Works with the Finance Department to:
    • Develop forecasts
    • Create budgets
    • Assess operational aspects of the Distribution Department to facilitate successful billing and collections.
  • Represents the company at distribution-related trade shows and events.
  • Increases the value of the branded services with affiliate partners, based on:
    • Affiliate & market knowledge
    • Understanding of video landscape evolve
    • Partner packaging strategy.
  • Achieves preset sales contribution targets
  • Helps prepare annual forecasts to maintain tight budgetary control.
  • Collaborates cross-functionally with:
    • Product teams
    • Operations
    • Internal stakeholders to support:
      • Product launches
      • App/VOD integrations
      • Reporting requirements
      • Execution readiness.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

  • Business proficiency in Dutch or Swedish.
  • Outstanding negotiator with strong business acumen; exceptional sales and influencing skills.
    • Structures deals that balance revenue, reach, risk, and long-term partner value.
  • Thrives in creative, solution-oriented deal-making, converting complex partner needs into commercially robust outcomes.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present clearly and persuasively to:
    • Platform partners
    • Senior internal stakeholders.
  • Self-starter, problem-solver, detail-orientated, and creative thinker.
  • Expertise in:
    • Industry trends
    • Evolving TV/video landscape
    • Emerging platforms.
  • Experience representing BBC persuasively in high-stakes environments.
  • Experience in an affiliate sales environment with an established relevant network.
  • Strong business acumen, including interpreting:
    • Financial models
    • Partner proposals
    • Market trends
    • Commercial trade-offs.

DESIRED (NOT REQUIRED)

  • Business proficiency in additional languages: Norwegian.
  • Experience in advertising across linear and digital (AVOD, FAST, or CTV).
  • Interest in AI and how it can improve:
    • Partner insight

  • Experience in negotiating or managing digital product launches, VOD services, or bundling partnerships.
