Do you have experience of business development, or account management, within the triathlon market?

The purpose of this role is to grow revenues by building strong client relationships and developing incremental business with existing and new triathlon brands.

You will ensure that Play Sports Network provides excellent client service and reporting that leads to increased renewals and revenues.

Job Responsibilities

Clients

  • Develop opportunities with businesses in the triathlon market. Demonstrate to them where Play Sports Network content can help grow their business.
  • Learn and understand the client’s business, their goals, challenges and opportunities. Keep updated on their business performance. Know their market and products in detail, learn what success looks like for them. Apply this knowledge to solve their problems and projects.
  • Grow the business by seeking and proposing new business solutions that deliver against clients’ marketing and communication goals and aspirations.
  • Ensure that branded content created features the appropriate brands and meets the agreed contractual terms.
  • Deliver commercial contracts. Take responsibility for delivering and implementing the specifics of the commercial contractual terms.
  • Build strong client relationships. Be a business partner, apply insight with honesty and openness. Strengthen the relationship to ensure retention and growth.
  • Deliver excellent client service and reporting. Use the tools at your disposal to provide them with reporting and analysis of content featuring our brand partners.

Internal Team

  • Work with the wider Commercial Partnerships team to unlock new opportunities for partnerships and branded content.
  • Discuss commercial opportunities and where there is interest, pass contacts and leads to the relevant person on the commercial team.
  • Communicate with the Commercial team and issues or questions from your discussions with triathlon brands.
  • Collaborate with the wider Play Sports Network team and key stakeholders. Build excellent relationships with the content teams to ensure that they understand the value of working effectively with commercial partners and our contractual obligations.
  • Product delivery and placement. Ensure when content teams need products, they are supplied. When our brand partner has new products, ensure Play Sports Network content teams are informed and educated on them.
  • Systems. Use Company internal systems to efficiently run your brand accounts, keeping stakeholders up to date and informed on progress, deliverables, resources needed and financial performance.
  • Champion great work with your brands, monitor fans’ feedback and engagement relaying highlights to our partners.
  • Ensure key areas of the business kept up to date i.e. Presenters, Finance, Legal etc.

Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Behaviours, Aptitudes & Approach

Experience

  • 5+ years experience as a Sales / Business Development professional in the triathlon market.
  • Exposure to influencing commercial partners in triathlon.
  • Experience generating and managing commercial deals, contracts ideally in the triathlon industry.

Aptitudes

  • Able to work from Bath and travel as necessary to visit current and prospective clients - we ask all new starters to work from our offices in Bath to assist with rapid learning and development.
  • Able to self-motivate and problem solve and use initiative.

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of and interest in triathlon and the triathlon market.
  • Ideally, have undergone some sales training.
  • Financial understanding - takes responsibility for income (and profit), recognises when to escalate commercial issues.
  • Able to understand and deliver on commercial contracts.

  • Well organised and able to plan ahead, thinking through the upcoming steps ahead.
  • Ability to spot new opportunities, act on them and expand existing ones with commercial partners.
  • Decision making - owns day-to-day decision-making and identifies effective solutions, consults with manager on major decisions / strategic recommendations as well as collaborates with the team.
  • Sales Skills - Prospecting; Preparation; Approach; Presentation; Handling objections; Closing; Follow-up.
