Commercial Sales - Civils Quantity Surveyor

** Civil Quantity Surveyor – Grid Technologies Substations (Newcastle upon Tyne)**

A Snapshot of Your Day

As the demand for energy sector infrastructure is rapidly increasing, we are seeking an experienced Civil Quantity Surveyor to join our Finance and Commercial team within our Grid Technologies Substations business based in Newcastle upon Tyne.

How You’ll Make an Impact

Across an identified portfolio of projects, your responsibilities will include:

  • Production of pre-tender estimates for civil construction work elements of project bid submissions
  • Identification of value engineering solutions during the tendering and delivery phases
  • Production of bills of quantities and/or schedules of works for civil engineering elements
  • Development and collation of subcontract work packages for Civil engineering and building works
  • Analysis of construction drawings issued during delivery, particularly within a design-and-build procurement route, compared against original tender submissions
  • Support in risk evaluation during bid preparation and throughout project delivery for civil engineering elements
  • Provision of support to the project commercial team in reviewing and analysing subcontract claims, including documentation collation and fact-based resolution
  • Assistance in developing and improving contract and claim management processes
  • Liaising with stakeholders from customer, subcontractor and joint venture organisations
  • Benchmarking historical project data to inform current and future estimates, bids and cost modelling
  • Contributing to lessons learnt analysis and project feedback from completed and ongoing projects

What You Bring

You will need:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, International Business, or a related financial discipline with a strong finance/ accounting background
  • Experienced in Quantity Surveying/Estimating, with a Civil Engineering focus
  • Familiarity with Construction & Engineering Forms of Contract, preferably NEC Contract experience
  • Strong measurement and quantification skills, with proficiency in Standard Methods of Measurement (e.g., CESMM)
  • Experience with M&E + Civil integration technologies, considered advantageous
  • Ability to compile pricing and scope/works information for subcontracts
  • Experience in project budgeting and financial risk/ opportunity analysis
  • Familiarity with BIM and drawing management software
  • Demonstratable experience in the construction industry or formal Quantity Surveying qualifications
  • A collaborative, team-orientated approach
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Willingness to share knowledge to enhance team capabilities
