Commercial Support Advisor *Permanent • Hybrid Worker • †£25,583–£26,403 per annum
Role Overview
Location Humber Building, Eastcroft Depot, London Road, Nottingham, NG2 3AH
Join a forward-thinking organisation driving change for Nottingham. You’ll act as the first point of contact for commercial customers, handling enquiries, requests, and complaints across Nottingham City Council’s Resident Services—primarily by phone but with additional channels. You’ll also proactively engage with both new and existing commercial clients to grow service uptake while embodying our commitment to innovation, inclusion, and outstanding customer care.
About the Role
The role requires engagement across the wide range of waste & residences services, including:
- Managing commercial waste inquiries (e.g., clinical waste, skip hire, collections)
- Delivering telephone-based support with a focus on clarity and problem-solving
- Collaborating with colleagues when escalating complex issues
A passion for serving customers and enhancing our city is essential—alongside a proactive, service-centred mindset.
Required Skills & Experience
Applicants should demonstrate: ✔ Proven phone-based customer service experience in a fast-paced environment ✔ Strong communication skills (verbal/written) for clarifying policies, procedures, and support needs ✔ Familiarity with waste systems (clinical waste, commercial collections) or a quick learner ✔ Ability to:
- Identify customer needs and deliver tailored solutions
- Manage difficult conversations professionally
- Maintain accessible IT records and documentation
- Promote an equality, diversity and inclusion ethos

Hygiene (in line with NHS index and future ‘pay award’ is pending review at your start date) £25,583–£26,403/annum (prorated for part-time; see inclusive arrangements below).
